Okay folks here we go. The 2015 Texas Mac event is Memorial week May 28th - 31st at the Franklin Microtel. Get your room booked early. These are the new dates as the previous weekend was already half booked!

I actually just changed it to the following weekend because they didn't have enough rooms at first weekend.
#4

Ouch. Gotta change my time off request to that week. I put in for the week prior.

#5

Oh yeah! I'm in.

Damn, me too!
#7
I always wait! :D
Plus my bosses don't like next years request before Thanksgiving at least.
#8

Room is booked.

Leave on calendar and room is booked.  :-)  Now I have something to look forwad to again!

#11
And no more last minute beer runs to Asheville right sweeper? Ha
#12
Sorry guys had to change it by a week. By the time I called today there was only 50% of the rooms left for Saturday night the previous week.
#14

Reservation in Mon-Sun.

Dutchy, come back to play!

#15

Planning to finally attend again!  Hoping to arrive earlier in the week than usual, too.

Thanks for setting and announcing the dates this early, BR.  :fing02:

#16

Rumor has it that Wolfpen Gap has brand spankin' new pavement.

#17
Dang this really screws up my plans... I really don't want to travel 900 miles on a holiday dangit!
#18

Kevin, I've been really looking to attend this for the last few years.  Is it best to arrive earlier in the week?  Anyone who's headed down from Ontario comments would be welcomed on how much time to plan, etc.  I'd be riding down.  This year I think I could swing a week!  (If there is an FAQ then steer me there and I'll be sure to review)

Thanks

Dave.

Arrive early. You'll need at least four days in the area to get your fill. More than that and you won't be able to ride home.

Alright, booked and booked!  Can't wait.  TMac count down begins.....189 days and counting.

dgordon, there were quite a few people down early in the week last year (me amongst them).  I trailered down through Bufalo, down I-77 through Pitsburgh and WV (not as fast as Detroit and I-75). Past Pitsburgh the highways got relatively interesting.  The roads around NC/TN have ruined me for riding superslab so am driving down again.  I found last years threads very good reading for TMac info.

Cheers!

Out -- will be at Barber that weekend.

Power, thank you.  I will go through the threads.  For me, I don't have the option of trailering.  I'm okay with the slab. However may not be after if I can do this. LOL.  I'd love to meet all of the people I feel I've grown to know over the years, through this board.  Also, the idea of seeing so many VFR's, and their owners is overwhelming to me.  Uber cool.

AMA Superbike racing that weekend?

Dave (dgordan) -- As great as the riding is, hanging with our fellow VFRD members is just as much of a blast.  It's a terrific group of people to ride and hang out with for a few days.  I would encourage you to get down earlier in the week, or at least start heading south early in the week and hit some nice twisty 2-lanes through W. Virginia and Virginia on your way down to N. Carolina.

If you have to, you can slab it back to make time, but try to enjoy the trip down and don't feel rushed.  That's probably a better option than hitting the twisties on the way back north, as you'll likely be pretty tired if you're not used to these kinds of roads.  Also, hitting some challenging roads on the way south helps freshen up your riding skills before you hit the really demanding stuff down there.

Hav, barbers just down the road so come by Wednesday Thursday and head to Barbra Friday afternoon.

So what's the date?  I tried to book for the dates in the original post and they are out of rooms for the 27th to the 31st

Did you tell them you were with VFRD or Kevin?  They block the rooms off for us...

Dave.

There are lots of Canadians from past events who can lend technical insight to this question and might even share a trailer.  Most ride down, though, which is funny because there are North Carolinians who trailer to the event.  We are rather spoiled, since curves here make the favorite road somewhere else look like a straight road.  Life is too short to ride the straight ones.

Booking vac - wife and I will be at cabin again with the dogs - but this time I will not screw up dates and will make it there before TMac - not just for TMac.

And yes Wolfpen Gap road is repaved - was on it in Sept - makes for a much nicer ride - still narrow though

See you all there

Guess my girl won't bring her eligible friends.

Now let's not get carried away here!
