Loosened the clamp ever so slightly, the leaking sped up. Tightened the clamp (about half a turn) and it stopped and it stayed dry with the engine running the next 5 minutes.
???Anyone had this and found that there was more to it than just a loose clamp???
Saving up for a DMR front suspension kit, so a new thermostat and/or (SAMCO) tubes is not in my plans..... :wacko:
That's not unusual. Over time virbration can loosen things up slightly. Coolant hoses deteriorate from the inside out - presuming they're the hoses it was born with, after 17 years they're past their prime. In similar situations I've done the same - tighten the clamp slightly and keep an eye on it. If it persists, it might be time for new hoses.
Coolant hose rubber eventually dry up and shrink a bit after some years on a bike motor, so the hose clamps on them loosens up as a result, so it's normal to have to tighten them up to stop the resulting leaks.
A large part of our -reclaimed- land is effectively a large river delta (the Rhine and la Meuse) where in olden times, sediment would settle from the rivers.
As we "dyked" in the rivers, the "dry land" is effectively sinking, whereas the bottom of the rivers rises (with the sediment that would normally be spread out...)
So we have to dredge and build (higher dykes and areas that are allowed to flood) for rising water levels/more extremes in rainfall over Europe/glaciers melting.
So far we can manage this through engineering, but look 100's years ahead and one has to wonder.........
The land "sinks, we are in some places already this much below sea level...
