Hello! I am new to the forums here but have been riding VFR's for a while now. Got my 2004 VFR800 off of craigslist a few months and 3,000 miles ago, with 28,000 miles. Bike is stock other than windscreen and givi luggage. I just today completed the full exhaust gut (sounds sooo much better) and was looking into other modifications. So I have a few questions for those more educated than me:

1) Should I go ahead and get a VFRness (the upgraded wiring harness kit from wiremybike.com) as a preventative measure? ...to avoid future charging issues and RR failure? I do not know for a fact if the original wiring recall has been done. I ask this because I had to replace the harness which melted on my 1990 vfr750 i owed before this, with 52,000 miles, and don't know if these models suffer the same issues.

2) what other engine/performance mods should I do? PAIR mod? o2 mod? Snorkel mod? flapper mod? anything necessary that i might not know about? I am not willing to spend the money on things like a power commander. people seem to recommend the PAIR mod, but should i do that or eliminate the 02 sensor (or neither? any downsides to doing them?)

3) anything to keep in mind or trouble areas for long term ownership of this bike? It is currently my only source of transportation. I believe it had its valves checked at 16000 by previous owner, nothing since then. I plan to do the basic oil change, air filter, coolant maintenance this weekend now that its getting warmer. chain/ sprockets are probably in its near future.

Thanks for the tips/help/opinions!

I would (did) definitely invest in the VFRness and also add a voltmeter.
