Fuel Injectors: Buy New Or Buy Rebuilt?

I'm working on a friend's '01 VFR and need to have the injectors cleaned.

I don't have the equipment to flow test the injectors, but one of the injectors seems to have problems activating when
I put 12v on it. The click of the valve opening is much less pronounced than the other 3 injectors.

All 4 injectors measure 13.8-14.4 ohms.

I plan on sending the set to Injector RX for cleaning. If the one injector turns out to be defective, they don't charge, but I'll have to replace it.

From '98-'01, Honda uses the same fuel injector part number (06164-PCA-000) for the VFR, the CR-V, and one of their outboard boat motors (BF-130).

There are a scad of re-rebuilt injectors for sale on eBay, ranging from $120 for a complete set of 4 injectors to $95 for one.
Partzilla wants $150 for a new one.

So I'll call upon the Wisdom of the List, as we used to say.

Would you consider using rebuilt injectors?
 

On a related note:

Would it be safe to soak the nozzle end of the injector in carb cleaner in an attempt to clean it?

It's my understanding that it's not wise to submerge the entire injector in solvent.

Full disclosure... I haven't used this service.  I just knew that FactoryPro offered it.

Marc is a pretty awesome guy and I have faith it will work out well.  Let us know how everything goes...

Unfortunately, Factory Pro has no stock of that injector, so he can't provide the flow matched option.

All he can do is clean and check mine.

So I'm back to the original question of whether or not rebuilt injectors are worth considering.

There are others that offer the flow matched injector sets... I looked through my saved pages and can't find it. 

May take a little research or perhaps help from the VFRD team...

I'm sure that InjectorRX can get it working. They worked wonders on mine!

I have a similar printout like that from WitchHunter performance.  I liked the fact that they actually returned all the parts that were replaced.  Also, I would caution you against buying cheap injectors from anywhere, rebuilt or not.  I've seen quite a few junk knockoffs and shitty "rebuilt" injectors for cars in the last few years and can't imagine that bikes would be immune to this problem.  Stuff that comes out of the package stuck open/shut.

The injectors were listed for the CRV, but as mentioned, it's the same part.

They're working fine, so I consider it $140 well spent.

At some point, I'll send the originals in to one of the vendors discussed to have them cleaned and kept as a backup set.
