I was starting my first trip on my 2004 VFR. I was pumped, two days of camping and riding along the North Shore of Minnesota the bike was loaded up and I left work early to head up to the north shore of Minnesota. About three miles after I left work, some guy in a car was furiously honking and pointing at me. Unable to decipher his message, I pulled over to see what he was yelling about.
Once on the side of the road, I look back and see my right saddlebag is missing. Some vulger words fly out of my mouth and I look down the road, but don't see anything. Since I'm on the interstate in Minneapolis, I drive up to the next exit and try and loop back to an exit I think is far enough back.
Five minutes later I finally finally find my way back onto the interstate. Within a mile I see a black box sitting about five feet into the ditch. *whew* I pull over and run up to the case to find that even though it fell off my bike at 65mph, the contents (my tent and rain gear) are still in the case, even though they are now visible in the huge hole where the back of the luggage used to be.
I think the root cause was user error and the handle wasn't pushed all the way down. When I hit a big enough bump the case came flying off. Luckily, the guy in a car let me know right away and I was able to get it back with all of its contents. After strapping a bungie net around it, it made it the rest of the way to Grand Marais.
So anyone have a spare right side pannier for sale?;)
Hey Seb , can you check to see if you have a spare left side for a 6th gen as well, just bought a set of brackets and one pannier local.I am a refinisher by trade , so even a cracked roughed up one would work. Thx.
I have a solid right side bag. It will need paint. Pay shipping and it's yours.
Left side bag is ok, outer shell is broken but semi-easily changed out for your existing (repaintable?) shell. Pay shipping and it's yours. [image: 20150810_201433_zpspva0p3ma.jpg]

Thanks SEBSPEED! I'll take the right one. I'll send you a pm to get details worked out.
My first trunk on my last VFR stayed mounted on its maiden voyage for almost two miles before I hammered the brakes going down a steep hill toward a red light. The trunk came bounding past me and came to rest against the center median curb. SOB and a few more colorful words came out of my mouth and fortunately, I was able to slam it back on the rack hard enough for it to latch properly and I returned home to sulk and curse some more. My only saving grace was that it was a cheap JC Whitney case and once I told them what happened, they covered the replacement. A+ to JC Whitney. I would have a full on coronary attack if that happened to my Givi trunk.
I've got a set of OEM red ones with mounting hardware that I'm not using if anyone is interested in purchasing. Not sure what they're worth... we'd have to figure that out. PM me if interested...
The trip was awesome! I worked from Grand Marais for two days and then met the family in Duluth. I didn't ride 1, but after I got back, a co-worker told me it was pretty great. I'm planning on riding it in September.
I checked the rack at work today, and unfortunately we don't have any sizes that will fit these. I'll have to scrounge and recycle some, could take a little while guys.

Thanks for the update. If you'd rather just drop it at the some shipping store, I could pick up that tab too.
