Trim clips recommendation, please?

Hello All,

Can an anyone recommend a good reusable trim clips source for my old 5th gen? The OEM Honda ones where you push in a flat screwdriver are awesome but stupid expensive to replace.

I’ve bought a few from online sources that do the job OK but getting them off for maintenance is a PITA and I often have to break them.

Anyone got a good (cheap) source of reusable substitutes, ideally in the UK.

Thanks in advance,

Stray

Wurth fastener has them in all sizes. You can buy online. You have to buy in quantity 10-25, average about $2 U.S. apiece. I work in auto repair and we have a selection of assorted sizes to choose  from. If you don't want to buy a large quantity you may want to try a local auto parts store or independent repair shop ask for "push type retainer" or bring along one of yours for size comparison. Good luck!

Thanks burnes45, I’ll follow your advice.

Happy to buy 25 units but every time I buy something online it ends up disappointing. Maybe a visit to my local auto parts store is in order.

Stray, by far the best, tightest and easiest to use push type fasteners are made by Bolt. I'm not sure on the size I purchased but I included a link below of the style I am referring to.

Here is an assortment of trim clips by them.

Try these, or at least this supplier. Those linked fit the 800F/800X. I don't know if they are the same size hole as the 6th or 5th Gen but they do supply other sizes too.

Thanks Skids. I've been looking all over for these. I found a different fastener and they work but are so tight that it's a real pain to remove them.

Pro-Bolt make the strongest ones I've come across, not sure what they are but here's a link https://www.pro-bolt.com/nylon-black-push-rivet-m7-pack-10.html

First class service and quality is unbelievable, can't recommend them highly enough

If you call in you get a 10% discount and personal service, last time I was there as was leaving the guy said "see you soon even if it's just for a washer"

Thanks for the suggestions, gents.

The Bolt ones look great (thanks Montelius) but don’t deliver to the UK. So I did a search and found these that look the same:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F112509489309

OEM are 6mm rivets x 10mm long and 13mm head. These are pretty close so I pulled the trigger.

I should have looked at the suggestions from Skids and thumbs first though as they were much cheaper.

Warning: never buy stuff online when you’ve had a few beers...

This style pushes the central plunger in to secure the rivet and then push in again to release. Hopefully they will make taking the bike apart for maintenance a little easier.

Thanks again gents,

Stray
