- Help please iPad useless with latest forum change 48 minutes ago, Grum Thanks HS. But things seem to have gone from bad to worse! Is the forum currently undergoing changes? Am I the only one with issues? - Have no way of changing Themes on either PC (windows 7) or Ipad…
- This might be a nice, VFR alternative..... This is not a boring old twin. The Aprillia has a 270° crank, and sounds and behaves like a V twin, just more compact. Don't underestimate the new generation of twins with the crossplane cranks, they have huge amounts…
- Water pump gasket 8 hours ago, trmoyer My wife is not impressed with the downtime.... Bugger, you should have used that opportunity to replace said faulty water pump with a newer 2015 VFR. Better safe than sorry I say.
- Water pump gasket No need to panic. A 6G or even 8G pump will fit, even if part numbers are different. I fitted a 6G pump on my 5G With no problem and I know someone fitted an 8G as well.
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT VFROZ, 1/31/2020 at 7:29 PM 2008 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST, only because I've ended up buying one. It was a hard decision to trade in the 5G, but with 137,000kms on it and wanting a change, it was the only obvious choice…
- Power Commander V fix for 2000-2001 VFRs In Oz, modifications to exhaust, suspension, brakes or fuelling (including modules like Dynojet) do not affect your insurance. I actually checked this with my own insurer. Obviously other countries differ. And something…
- Power Commander V fix for 2000-2001 VFRs Hmmm, this has been said before. I'm hoping it is true this time.
- 8 SPOKE WHEEL and PCIIIUSB for 5G for sale (ALL SOLD) My 5G has gone, so the 8 spoker and PCIIIUSB are up for sale if anyone is interested. 8 spoke rim in good condition $AU$280 PCIIIUSB in great condition AU$150 BOTH NOW SOLD VIA EBAY [image: IMG_7075.jpg] [image:…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT 54 minutes ago, Grum Congratulations VFROZ. Great looking bike m8, 2008, wow looks like it just came out of the showroom, must be very low k's. Never hear owners complain about them quite the contrary they love them.…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT 2008 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST, only because I've ended up buying one. It was a hard decision to trade in the 5G, but with 137,000kms on it and wanting a change, it was the only obvious choice without breaking the bank. A…
- Rear wheel nuts seized / won’t undo! Grum, 1/16/2020 at 2:04 PM Just for info. For over 40 years I've always applied grease or oil to the wheel stud threads on both bikes and cars, have never torqued a wheel nut in all that time, just tightned to a good…
- CB4x concept More like competition to the BMW S850XR or the like. At only 650cc it will not be serious competition to the GSXR derived 1000cc Katana.
- SELLING MY 5G The time has come to sell my beloved 5G. It has 135,000kms on the clock and needs nothing. List of mods: VTR1000F lower forks and rebound adjusters with 0.95kg springs, hiflow compression and rebound pistons with custom…
- Oxygen sensors OEM substitute? If it’s running fine why would you want to replace or clean them? O2 sensors are not something that need servicing, they usually last the life of the bike.
- 1998 honda vfr 800 front and rear sprocket size 17-43
- Lithium Ion Battery I have three mates running LiFepo4 batteries. Shorai and SSB. One of them has them on three bikes. The one in his Ducati hadn’t been started for around 1 year, when we were having a beer in his shed and talking about…
- instrument cluster bulb replacement If you want LED's, you need these: Make sure you match colours to the warning lights, and get warm for the instruments if you want it looking the same.…
- Rear Sprocket Questions 5th and 6th gens have the same hole pattern, I think the extra holes are just there for weight reduction. I don’t remember seeing a sprocket with no extra holes. Everyone wants less unsprung weight, not more.
- Chain adjust nomenclature. I'll add a funny storey about chain lube. A few years ago on one of our runs to Phillip Island for WSBK with the boys, my mate forgot chain lube. I offered him mine but I only take a tiny can of Maxima that gives you…
- Chain adjust nomenclature. Ha, that's the same wax I've been using for years. and same for me, 60,000km on my last chain with only 2 adjustments in it's life. Only swapped it out as I went for a 520 chain kit with 2 extra teeth on the rear.…
- If only Honda would do this ! Nice bike. The Rothmans colour always did suit Hondas. Here is my old 1000F, I regret getting rid of it. [image: VF_1000_F_1991_a.jpg]
- Fast idle wax unit replacement You're actually right Terry, The problem with mine and my mates was high idle after getting hot. Not slow idle while cold. I've also noticed US bikes seem to have a lot more corrosion than Oz bikes. Not much rain here,…
- Fast idle wax unit replacement Also make sure that the orifice on the top of the thermostat housing that supplies the coolant to the wax unit is not blocked. It is small, and because it sits on top it often fills with gunk if any air has been in the…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT I did ask the a good Kawasaki mechanic back then about the 900r running at 3/4 temperatures all the time, he stated that if the gauge showed 1/4 at the same temperature no one would worry about it. So I never worried…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT I so wanted one of them CBX750's back in the day, they looked hot. Ended up with a VFR750F two years later instead, never looked back. That was after two years on the GPz900r, now that was a bike to remember, turned…
- New chain for 5th gen 15 hours ago, tireguy Bubba...there's a good reason why the Chinese don't make airplanes or elevators. The same reasoning applies to why I wouldn't use a air filter from them on my VFR to save $30. I'd buy a lawn…
- Connector gets hot! part 2 jstehman, 8/14/2019 at 10:30 PM Correct. But I am keeping the fused connection between fuse B on the diagram and the positive on the battery? It looks like from the diagram it feeds to the ignition. It is a 2007 Sent…
- Connector gets hot! part 2 14 minutes ago, BuzznerSuntrusts No? I’ve had my R/R wired directly to the battery through a 30a fuse on the +. I recently revised that setup to a 30a breaker and saw that the other (stock) 30a fuse was getting toasty…
- Connector gets hot! part 2 Yes
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT Strange isn’t it? The RS with USD forks has no front end feel, but the older R with duolever front end gives better feed back. The R with tall screen and hard bags is what my mate went back to. The XR is hard to upset,…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT 7 hours ago, vfrcapn Given all that, my '99 VFR is just as good of a bike, probably because it fits me like an old pair of leather shoes that just get more comfortable with age. And that’s the crux of it. I think it’s…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT 2018 BMW S1000XR 160HP, 83ft-lb of torque, 218kg/502lb wet. This bike is really tall, I had a lot of trouble with this as I could not reach the ground. We swapped bikes on a country ride in the middle of nowhere, me…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT The MT07 has been a great success here in Oz and rightly so. They look like a fun bike with plenty of poke. I agree the fairing needs tweaking, but bloody good effort on your part. Well done. A bit more info on how the…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT Nice two wheeled car Terry 🙂 I must admit to being spoiled with the 5G song. I find most IL4's lacking in character.
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT The S1000rr was going to be my next post, but since yours covers everything I was going to say I'll leave it alone. It is a missile on wheels!!! I have 29" inseam and have the same trouble.
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT 2018 BMW R1200RS 125HP, 92ft-lb of torque and 236kg/520lb wet. I really had great expectations for this bike, and really wanted to like it. The motor is fantastic, huge amount of grunt everywhere. There is no need to…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT 2013 Triumph 675 Street Triple R What a hoot of a bike. 107HP, 51ft-lb of torque and 189kg/416lb wet. The steering is super precise, I still don't know how this bike turns, you just look at the corner exit and the bike…
- BIKES THAT ARE NOT VFR's RIDE REPORT My 5G is getting old. The new 8G is not much of an update from the 6G (disappointingly). So I thought I would start a new topic regarding ride tests on other bikes. It doesn't need to be just sport tourers, any modern…
- Rhythmic Vibration 1 hour ago, BusyLittleShop Every 4 stroke Honda racer namely the RC30 and RC45 and the 185K RC213VS share the same angular contact or ball steering head bearings p/n 91062-MR7-003 so its false to characterize it as…
- New chain for 5th gen 5 hours ago, Marvelicious I wonder if that isn't something that mostly applies to 520 sprockets (and maybe 525): giving them the same shaft engagement of a 530 sprocket? I know my 520 kit has the same position for the…
- looking for yellow seat cowl 8 hours ago, skant153 https://shop.benjan.nl/product/77225-mbg-000zc/ If you can read Dutch and they shit internationally, that's an option? Found two other European ones but they're over $200 Not sure I would want to…
- New chain for 5th gen 1 hour ago, FJ12Ryder I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're trying to say. Asymmetrical? I'm curious how that works. You can't turn them around. This is the case with my 520 kit, both sprockets only fit one way.
- Overheating. Could it be the thermostat? 4 hours ago, Grum Hi VFROZ. 8gen is very different. There is no temp switch on the radiator. The ECM sees coolant temp from the ECT sensor and sends a grounding output from the ECM to a Fan Relay to energise it. Cheers…
- Overheating. Could it be the thermostat? The fan swithces on via the temp switch in the left radiator on the 5G and 6G. No relay used. The fan power is always on while ignition is on, and the ground is switchewd by the temp switch. this could be your problem.…
- Some new thought about 5th Gen summertime cooling... 48 minutes ago, GreginDenver Air conditioning systems and forced-air heating systems are convection. I'm talking about thermal radiation. Thermal radiation is one of the three principal mechanisms of heat transfer. It…
- 2010 VFR1200 URGENT brake ABS malfunction Did you notice any rear brake drag before it happened?
- 2010 VFR1200 URGENT brake ABS malfunction Wow, you were very lucky that it didn’t end a lot worse. I’ve seen this happen before with pads not being installed correctly and not sitting inside the correct locating slots. They spin out and you end up with pistons…
- Some new thought about 5th Gen summertime cooling... Yes but the radiated heat is tranfered by the surrounding air, and the coolant is moving pretty fast. I was head or R & D at an airconditioning manufacturer in a past job, and have worked on high end airconditioning…
