All 25- Shiming The Shock For Ride Height Adjustment ok spring is almost here. I want to get on this mod. Anyone have a picture? I looked at it tonight and I'm almost certain what needs to be done but I'd like to see what one of you have done.
- Plug Replacement -- Irridiums Worth It? just replaced my plugs at the 12k recommended interval. Went with NGK rather then the Densos. Test ride in the Am, fired right up. Using 87 octane I dont see the need for special plugs.
- 01 Vfr 800 Value Estimate i see that as realistic. You can't replace it for that.
- 01 Vfr 800 Value Estimate One thing to consider. The fifth gen is really a modern classic. Not that it is in RC30 territory at all but I would consider a clean 1998-2001 VFR to be worth more than a 2002-2003 sixth gen. Now, that is personal…
- Time For All Dogs To Be Dead Hell I'd pay 28 bucks for that view for an evening. Keep the posts coming and safe travels to you.
- When Should You Replace Radiator Hoses? tight enough is just before you strip the clamps and when your radiator pressure test says the system is good.. some experience may be necessary..
- When Should You Replace Radiator Hoses? I just replaced all the hoses in the v and the two to the wax thingy and the thermostat. I figured while fixing a leak I'd replace stuff, preventative maintenance. It wasn't bad but did take time. I also had to custom…
- Time For All Dogs To Be Dead superfunkomatic If you do make it north to Banff send me a PM. I'll come ride with you for the day and take you out to lunch in Canmore. Better get your move on. Our weather has been wacky this year and we've already…
- Need 5Th Gen Thermostat Replacement Diy I just finished this job myself. I went in there to fix the two leaky hoses to the wax thingy. On advice from this forum I replaced all the hoses in the v, the thermostat and the o ring on the housing. Quite fiddly but…
- How To Turn A 30Min Clutch Change Into 12Hrs I've never used a torque wrench on a clutch spring retainer, they get snug not tight. There is a reason the bolts on parts of the bike are certain sizes. With an internal moving spinning part, if it fails it cost you…
- Shiming The Shock For Ride Height Adjustment ok great. I have an ohlins on the bike but it doesn't have ride height adjustability. I dont want to go nuts but even after fitting new q3's it could turn in a bit better.
- Bike Idles Above 3000 Rpm In The Cold WD40 the Fi linkages first, usually sorts it. This saved my bacon. I just got done replacing hoses and the thermostat. All back together and fired it up, 2000rpm, after a few it went to 3500. Shut it down to look on the…
- Shiming The Shock For Ride Height Adjustment Has anyone shimmed a fifth gen shock?
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? The DanMoto is going back. I'm just not satisfied. Look what I got.[image: IMG_0802.JPG] I'm going to make this project two. I want to ride. I got my speed bleeders also. Those will go on and I'll replace the fluid…
- 1999 Vfr800 Resurrection I hate to say it but the off throttle head shake was common even on new bikes in the 98-2001 era, it was minor and totally controllable. Usually it was about 30 mph or below and off throttle. It was especially…
- Which Ohlins Shocks Fit A 5Th Gen? The 2000 VFR I just purchased from a board member with an Ohlins and it is really good. It was a major factor in my purchase of the bike. Ohlins verified the spring for me and let me know that I could indeed reach my…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? So, Ive ordered my second danmoto pipe. It's strange that each danmoto pipe is a very fiddly thing one each bike. On my gsxr1000 it took 3 hours to fit and I wasn't very happy. On my 2000 vfr it's fiddly again. Not a…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? Dont forget to clean your wax thingie as wel :goofy: l. Mine was totally bunged up cleaned it and worked like a charm afterwards what did you do to clean it?
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? Well the new buns are mounted. Got oil and brake fluid.. Has anyone removed the wax thingy from a 2000-2001 and installed a manual choke/enrichener? I was thinking that this would reduce the complexity by eliminating…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? As the PO, I feel the OP's pain. I thought I had fixed that coolant leak--clearly not. Sorry about that! I had that off and on about three times and it's not for the faint of heart. Thermostat was replaced in the 08-09…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? Since you are that far in I would advise you to change the thermostat. Unless you have already done so. It's right there in the bottom of the valley.. Real easy to do now and known to fail on theses bikes. I know, its…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? Ok so I went a bit deeper than I expected to...I hope the galfer Stainless Line kit gets here before the hoses. The bike is in perfect shape for that job. I'll get the tires done Friday, new Q3's, I like the corners,…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? The one hose I need is on backorder from Big Red, damn, I ordered up all the others. I'll make a new hose to the wax thingy, I have time as it'll be six days till the hoses arrive. I'll drain the coolant, change the oil…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? So here is some eye candy so I can entertain you. Pic one, there is the nick, that bastard...[image: IMG_0765.JPG] Pic two the big Vee...[image: IMG_0767.JPG] Pic three, I sure hope i never develop a vacume leak, holy…
- Coolant Leak From Hose To Wax Thingy 2000 Vfr800Fi, Replace Hoses? I was tracking down a coolant leak on a new to me 2000 VFR. What a chore. Looks like the PO that had the bike just pinched or nicked a hose from the water pump to the wax thingy on top of the throttle body. The bike…
