Please respond if anyone is interested in meeting up for a ride towards some the lakes in the Adirondacks of upstate NY. One trip I love is around Great Sacandaga Lake which is full of curves and sweepers. Lake Placid and Ticonderoga would be great.

Let me know if interested and when free?
#2
Sure. I'm in Troy, NY but have no objection to waking up a little earlier and meeting someplace. Plus, would love to learn some new roads.

I'm available most weekends.
#3
I'm across the Big Lake near Burlington, VT. I'm free on Sundays and Tuesdays and enjoy riding NY... I'm about 35-40 min. from Crown Point, NY. An hour or so from Ticonderoga.

Yeah, totally interested and totally jealous of the roads there. I'm in "flat as piss on a plate, Michigan" and I have to seriously plan a trip to find even the slightest curvy roads. Enjoy your ride and be safe. Perhaps i can get through there this summer on my way out east. Larry

ColdinVT and Immortalfool,

Lets plan something. I am also open for a ride in VT at some point. A Sunday sounds good for all but a Tuesday could be a great sick day for me?

I've been out a few times late;y and the roads are still sandy. I'd love to wait for a nice rain to wash the roads, which should be VERY soon.

#6
I would be up for this, I am available most Saturdays or Sundays and have never been to that part of NY.

Sounds good - weekends are best for me.
A friend and I did a ride through part of the Adirondacks last season.
Since we are not as far north, we only got up to Blue Lake before heading back during daylight - it was deer season.....
Let me know when and where and I'll try to meet up for at least part of the ride,
or join you for one later in summer.
#8
I am in the New York area. I would be interested in making that run one day.

Let me know when you plan on riding this. You plan on riding with a passenger or solo?

and/or
Sunday 5/22

ColdinVT said something about Tuesdays, how about:
Tues 5/3 or
Tues 5/17

If you can go please state your preference for dates.

When we see who is coming & from where we can set up meeting times/places.

Hi,

I'm in Ohio and would be interested in riding up to meet up with you if you're doing it on a weekend. Possibly during the week, but not sure. I plan on picking up an 03 VFR or 05 ZZR this week.

Thanks for the Invite

AClo74,

I plan to go solo as we have a one year old baby and my wife gave up cycling if it means putting her with a babysitter! But, I won't be dragging knees personally (maybe a couple wheelies though)javascript:emoticon(':wheel:')
smilie. Solo or duo ... what ever makes you happy!

Smoothrider,

Good luck with the decision. I certainly respect the power and comfort of the ZZR. I rode a buddies zx-11 (an oldejavascript:emoticon(':wheel:')
smilier smaller version of the ZZR) and it was slightly overgeared meaning to feel real power you had to break the speed limit in first gear ... but a highway rocket. On the curves a VFR feels so much more at home and nimble.

Anyhow, let us know which of the above dates could work for you.

Corbeau,

Sounds like you know your roads. Are any of the dates listed above good?

#13
That is some trip you did. I would be coming from the SouthEast.

Corbeau, Mar 29 2005, 03:13 AMI'll keep checking this topic... I'm about 90 minutes away from the border and I really like those roads... Here's the loop I did, to pick up a pair of Sidi boots shipped from newenough to Ogdensburg:

Thanks for the reply. Congrats on having a baby man. I will check my schedule and see what days are good for me. Talk to you soon.

Hey I am interested!! I am in Connecticut and would meet with anyone going by here to join all of you in NY.

For me 4/9 would work better than 4/10

But I would go on Sunday. Probably try to get up there Saturday night and stay overnight to be ready for Sunday's ride.

Everyone interested in riding up with me from the northeast on Saturday let me know.

Would it be possible to move it forward one week? I am a Marine Reserve and 4/9 and 4/10 is my drill weekend and so I cannot go that weekend. :(

Let me know,

Thanks! Check out the full length ride report here.

4/10, 5/22 are both open for me.

Pick a route and let me know, the further south the more likely my appearance :) Sounds like there are plenty interested no matter what.

Same here - except 5/22 is a better date for me.
Maybe there could be multiple rides up through there during the season???
#20
PGreen,

Sorry about the timing. I personally cannot move it up a week from 4/10.

It does sound like Sunday 4/10 may be a go. Is this a rain or shine ride? Why not also plan a 5/22 for those that can make it?

I'll be getting on the Adirondack Northway (87N) at exit 13 or 14 (Saratoga) which is 30 miles north of Albany. This may be a central spot for people coming from the South (Troy, CT, etc) or those coming from the West (Syracuse, etc). There is a Stewarts rest stop at exit 13 that may be a good spot to meet.

Awesome. Look forward to meeting up. I am going 4/40 and 5/22. We'll get the details together soon.
#23
Stewarts on the Northway sounds perfect. Post details (time) when you feel like it.

For the record, I ride a black V-TEC and my real name is Eric :)
#24
Hi - I'm in Ithaca. I would be up for a ride some weekend. Let me know when!
#25
Hey Eric (Troy), Driscoll (Ithaca), Jason (Rome, NY), Rob, JHugh, Smooth (VT), Allen, CT_1998, & Eric,

How does 9am on Sunday 4/11 sound at exit 13 (off Northway/87N) Stewarts.

If that is too early just say so. From there would a 200+ mile loop with stops for food be a good length? I haven't tried the roads near Ticonderoga Lake but have heard good things and can try to get it mapped out this weekend. I also want to better confirm and map where the roads head if we went around Sacandaga Lake (15 miles) and then North past Hadley, Lake Luzerne (small), Lake George (35 miles), which I think hits Ticonderoga. Most of these roads are awesome but only minimally hilly. Lets check to see if a mountain route could be an alternate route for the 4/10 ride or te 5/22 ride.

#26
Can't make it for the April ride, I'll try for the one in May. And since your meeting spot is about 400 km from here, the best bet for me would be to meet you guys for lunch, if our respective loops intersect.
We'll see next month. Have some good turns for me!
#27
I with Corbeau, I cant make it in April and the start point is about 180 miles from my house. Maybe Corbeau and I could meet you guys from the east somewhere in the middle of the Adirondacks?

OK Saratoga,

Souds GOOD to me. I'll have to leave really early from my place but should make it. Can't wait to see the final map. How's the sand on road situation? Here it's still bad? If anyone wants to meet up with somewhere on 91 N up to 87N let me know otherwise I will see you all there. BTW Red VFR 1998 Erion Racing Complete (the best sounding IMO) real name Marc

Sounds like pgreen94 (Syracuse), vfrdriscoll (Ithaca) and I (Binghamton) are all about 180 miles away from the meeting point. I'm not sure I can make the 4/11 ride but maybe the 3 of us can meet up and make the 5/22 ride?

I'm not sure what it's like across the lake, but here in VT, the roads are still salty and sandy. We're expecting a few days of rain, so hopefully, Upstate NY will get it too and wash the roads down a bit.

As far as days, we've got company from ME on the 11th, so I'll try to catch u guys on 5/22. I'd prefer to avoid the Northway ('cause I can) and meet you guys at a lunch stop or something somewhere around Lake George, Indian Lake, Lake Placid, wherever.
