Mounting BOTH GPS & Radar Detector

Hey folks,

First, I really have searched the forums here and at ST-N, and I've not seen anyone with a 6gen VFR that has BOTH a GPS and a Radar Detector mounted at the same time.

I already have an Garmin ETREX GPS unit, and I'm shopping right now for the radar detector (I have an urgent need for one)

Obviously there is limited space in the cockpit, but these are the two farkles that would make a dream setup for me.

I will also (obviously) need to set up power for these gadgets, and depending on what people reccomend, I don't know whether to go for steering tube mounted Jastek outlet, or one on the left panel.

There doesn't seem to be enough room to put anything on the handlbars. It looks like it will have to be the steering tube, or the slick "gas-tank-bolts" ram mount setup.

Does anyone know if RAM makes a big enough "shelf" for both gadgets? I could also mount the detector on the windsheild I suppose....

Any help would be great....especially photos of your setups.

I will certainly share and document whatever I end up doing

TIA

anyone? Bueller?

Seems there is the Stem Stand option (as from www.radarbusters.com) or the RAM mount option.

Obviously, if you go with the stem stand option, you can't have the cool Jasktek stem-power outlet, you'd have to go with the left panel powerlett.

What are you guys doin for po-po protection?

swoop, I remember seeing a picture of someones setup someplace in the forums a while ago where the actual sensor and LED warning light were attached to the top of the windshield and the A/C adaptor and other guts were connected to it via a cable. I'll try to dig up the link.
