WSBK, Race 2, Phillip Island:

"Works Ducati man Regis Laconi survived a spectacular crash to remount and finish the race. However, there may be an amendment to the result if the rules are adhered to in the strictest sense as Laconi's 999F05 motorcycle fell on its side during the crash at the top of Lukey Heights without the engine cut-off system kicking in."

Looks like Ducati is up to their old tricks again - remember when Troy Bayliss' Ducati didn't shut off when he fell at Silverstone a few years ago ? Naughty naughty.

The Ducs do have electric start this year--wonder if the writer was aware of this?

When I crashed, the rear went away and I made a big high-side. I restarted the bike with the starter and got back in the race to finish seventh."

Interesting, since it was reported the bike DIDN'T shut off...

Makes a lot of sense to fit it with a starter.
They are so small and light weight these days anyway.

Just imagine if you stalled on the grid as well!

Too much money and too much at stake not to cover all bases.

The works 999R's also have a removable frame piece (supposedly to tune chassis flex) that the production bikes don't have. How do they get away with that? :unsure:

I doubt that anyone out there is running "production" frames.
