Just watched the MotoGP race.
Some really unexpected events with big consequences.
Something that stood out for me was Toni Elias drifting his bike into the corners from way back corner after corner - will his rear tire last I was wondering?
The new Ilmor 800cc bike made it to the end. Little teams like KR and Ilmor really have my admiration & I love it when they do well. Watch the race.
#2
Geez, not even worth watching for me and I am not going to. Pedrosa lost it while trying to pass Hayden taking out both himself and Hayden dry.gif

Rossi finished second but, the DNF for Hayden gives Rossi an 8 point lead going into the final round.

At least watch the last five laps or so, some great racing by the riders that made it to the podium fing02.gif
#4
It is being recorded on Tivo, I will probably watch it later in the week. Sounds like Toni really gave Rossi some fits, thankfully he kept Rossi getting the full points for a race win beer.gif

Boy would I like to be a fly on the wall to hear what is going on in the Honda paddock...

Lets hope Colin returns the favor to Dani by taking out Rossi in the final round or maybe Dani could just do it himself biggrin.gif
#5
Great Race : thumbsup:
Was a bit dispaointed though not seeing McCoy sliding through the corners like he used to. Elias sure showed he can drift too laugh.gif
#6
I'm a austrailian but like Hayden because he always trys his best & makes no excuses even when Honda used him as the test monkey & treated Pedrosa as the golden boy. But if I was Hayden I would be giving my team mate one hell of a uppercut & Honda should demote Pedrosa to a sat team for that effort.

I don't think I have ever seen a motogp bike sliding sideways like the winner of that race Elias did truely worth watching till the end.

#7
I don't think it is in Hayden's character to whine but, he did clearly show some frustration when he got up after the incident...

http://www.crash.net/news_view~t~Pedrosa-t...6~id~138990.htm

Hayden was third at the time of the accident, which occurred when Pedrosa lost the front of his Repsol Honda while trying to re-pass the American on the inside as they entered a left hand turn.

The pass was never realistically going to work and Dani, having lost the front, slammed into the side of Hayden, sending them both cartwheeling into the gravel. Hayden was apoplectic with rage, removing his helmet and screaming with frustration. It must have taken every inch of his restraint to avoid throttling the young Spaniard, who appears to have broken a finger.

Team order, what a joke. What the heck was Dani thinking? Hayden is rightfully pissed. I will never cheer for the little idiot again! dry.gif

No team orders.
Hayden charged Dani and overtook, Dani charged and cooked it.

DO watch the last 5 laps with KR shakin' (not stirred) things up, Elias doing some magic slides, Rossi NOT settling for second (he could have lost it too in his efforts).

Now it comes down to the wire.
If Hayden wins the last race with Rossi in 3rd.....
#11
Yeah no team orders, but the cardinal rule:

Don't take out your team mate!
#12
There may have been no team orders, but let me tell you, if it were me, and it was my first year on the team, and I'm lying what? 5th in the points with 2 races to go, what would I do? Contentedly follow Hayden at a reasonable distance (IE: not pressuring him) and make myself as wide as possible, running defensive lines to prevent challengers from getting past me.

Hey, even if Pedrosa could make a clean pass, say, on the brakes at the end of a long straight, he's still taking points away from Hayden. You don't have to have team orders to be a team player, just wake up and smell the friggin' champagne at the victory bash you Moran.

Now if Pedrosa and Hayden were embattled for the championship and the nearest competitor had no chance of catching either leader, then hey, gloves off, teammates or no. I can see the every-man-for-himself theory at work there, but not when you're in 5th place.

What exactly did he hope to gain even if he DID make the pass? huh.gif

I hope they have him back in Japan testing the 2007 Big Ruckus for the winter. pissed.gif

Pedrosa is an immature racer. I'm soooooo disappointed by his dumbass mistake.
#14
Realistically, what would the penalty be for using your helmet to beat the $h!t out of your own teammate? There should definitely be a rule allowing it after this...

agreed. i've been impressed all season by what pedrosa has done, but that was careless and reckless.

inexcusable for him to put himself in a situation where that could happen, in my mind.

terrible for hayden... he was looking to be on pace. all hayden can do now is go out and win at valencia and hope for the best.
#16
Wow, and now he is going to be the "face" of honda. What a joke. Never will I cheer for that little fark.
#17
I can NOT believe that stupid little $hit tried that!!! pissed.gif WTF was he thinking? They would have had to physically restrain me from choking the life out of that immature little punk. pissed.gif

No team orders, but for the last race, Pedrosa must take Rossi out in the same manner...
#18
It's very very very very hard to not *spoil* here - I still can't believe it...

Great race albeit with a slow and steady middle bit. Probably good, it allowed me some breathing space to get over what occurred in the early stages.

Suffice to say, I've finally found a worthy villain to replace Koscincki! And boy am I going to have it in for him from here on in.

Certainly a race full of surprises... can't wait for the last race!

Edit: I enjoyed Elias's display too, his crab-like entry into a few of the corners definitely unsettled his fellow racers! That way he drifted _out_ from the inside (defensive) line must be a real bitch to beat. Vermuelen used to do it on the Ten Kate CBR1000RR, but with even more style - he'd back it in to a right hander with the rear wheel stepping out to the inside...
#19
WTF! I wonder if the bean counters in Japan have computed how much that dumbass mistake just cost Honda in sales by not winning the championship. I cheer for both Hayden and Rossi, what a shitty way to lose/win the championship. Great race for the last few laps.
#20
well, after running out of the TV room to post immediately after seeing the crash - i've had a chance to catch the rest of the race and get some perspective on the whole thing.

pedrosa made a mistake and some horrible luck for nicky - but rossi didn't win... could have been worse.

finally we should have a chance to see nicky race with nothing to lose. i hope he absolutely runs the tires off that bike next race - and if he does, there's any number of quality riders who can take 2nd from valentino and hand nicky the title... this race showed that as much as anything else.

the worst possible result for nicky has happened... but it's not over.

the best poetic justice finish would be repsol honda 1,2 next week... with pedrosa hugging nicky's rear tire. however, i'm not sure there's a more difficult task then taking the championship out of rossi's hands.
#21
Eilas sliding his bike at the end of the straight was worth the whole time to watch. I still cant belive how fast he moved past Rossi while Rossi was braking. The commentator was talking about Eilas using the bike like a dirt track bike!!!! Super skills, how the hell do you do that !!!!! biggrin.gif

As for Pedrosa all I can say is squid.gif

#22
I was ready to stop watching after the first few laps, but I am glad that I didn't. I was rooting for Elias and Roberts to put Rossi in third just to give Hayden a better shot...Great last five laps!!
#23
So, should we take off the profanity sensors in this thread? I am so pissed, mare words (other than swear words) can not explain what I am feeling. dry.gif

Thread starts without a spoiler? Are you kidding? This will quickly turn spoiler, so I changed the title. Better stuff in the other race result thread though. smile.gif

Biggest f%$#-up I've ever seen in 20 years of GP racing.

No matter how well Pedrosa does from here on in, he's going to wear it.

I just hope Stoner gets his shit together, stays on the bike, and stops Pedrosa from ever winning a premier class title (and in the interim lets see Rossi bitchslap him, and the likes of Melandri, Elias, Capirossi, KrJr etc. really serve it up to him on the track).

And Hayden should take him out the back of the pit and floor him, twice. F%#@, I would, contract or not.

What a little %$#
#26
Rossi takes the lead so I guess its pretty much over, Haden hasnt been on the podium since Laguna and with all his clutch problems its doubtful. Unless Rossi has another DNF for engine failure again its pretty much over! Good job Pedrosa, now take that Best Rookie trophy and stick it up your arse! I imagine he will get some serious boo's next time he is in the US!

I was screaming at Dani Pedrobot through the tv. I am still steamed that he would risk Nick's championship like that. The worst thing? He is Spanish and an obviously talented rider and so there will be no repercussions from Repsol or Honda.

WTF? They gave Hopkins a suspension last year, where is Pedrosas (though we need him if Nicky is to have a prayer in the last round. )

If Rossi wins by less than 4 points there will be a lot of grumbling from me about the yellow flag incident.

I know luck is part of this game and Rossi has suffered his share of bad luck this season, but Pedrosa deserves to be beaten about the face and neck. Idiot!!

#29
This just in, Dani wasn't trying to overtake Nicky, he just made a braking mistake.

Give me a break!!!!!!!!
#30
I can't stand Pedrosa. This only makes me dislike him more. He reminds me too much of Gibernau.

I seriously don't think you would have the same viewpoint if Edwards had knocked Rossi out of the race on the second lap.

I thought "Hayden Robed" meant he won and pulled enough points to be given the MotoGP throne before going into the last race. goofy.gif

edit - This post makes no sense in this thread...looks like it got moved from the thread titled "Hayden Robed [sic]", which probably got canked for being a double post...of course, it's not like haven't posted non-sensical stuff before. tongue.gif

Yeah, pure damage control, which is a cowards way out. He didn't like the pass Nicky put on him and he wanted to get him back.........when in fact he should have let Nicky around rather than force him to go 110%.

The pass Nicky put on Dani was incredible and showed Nicky was in the right mental place for this race.........

You what?!?

The "pass Nicky put on Dani" nearly put Dani (if not both of them) in the gravel! He cut up the inside so forcefully that he banged into Dani and forced them both wide. When Dani took him out, it wasn't deliberate so much as him doing what Nicky did (taking the inside line) but with Nicky not giving an inch, Pedrosa couldn't brake, and his only recourse in trying to not touch Nicky (unlike when Nicky didn't give a damn) was to cut in tighter. Unfortunately, that put him on the slippery rumble strip. Ill-considered, perhaps, but not deliberate or malicious.

cornercarver, Oct 16 2006, 12:00 PMHere's to Dani never tasting the sweetness of a world title and never realizing the promise of his potential.

Too late, Dude - he's already been 125 and 250 world champion, and he'll be MotoGP champion too, fer sher, unless something bad happens. He's already shown what talent he has.
For a robot...

That's just it. I like both Rossi and Hayden. I still see the injustice that you don't see even if the wooden shoe is on the other foot. If it had been going on with Yamaha making Rossi lose points by testing and later by Edwards not being reeled in by the team managers, I think your opinion on the matter would be completely opposite.

You act as if you are tired of reading about it....so why the hell do you keep clicking on the thread, reading and posting?

Here is a pretty good article on Speedtv.com about this whole situation. It is good reading...

http://www.speedtv.com/articles/moto/motogp/33412/

That's a "must read"; especially interesting is this quote:
Furthermore, the marketing people from Repsol YPF, the Spanish-Argentine petroleum and natural gas company, seem not to care at all what Hayden does. I have been told by Repsol insiders that Dani is why we are here.
Motorcycling is HUGE in Spain - the final MotoGP race has sold out ALL of the 200,000 tickets! And Dani is one of their heroes.
#44
I kind of feel the need to make a point here.

Comments have been made concerning the fact that if Rossi hadn't had troubles earlier this season than he would have been leading the points race.

Possibly so, but if that "type" of logic is to be used it needs to be used across the board. idea3.gif

Every pro racer, including Rossi, has benefited from someone else's misfortune be it from DNF's to crashes to injuries to poor setup etc.

And if you want to use the "Rossi had troubles early on" argument, then wouldn't you also have to acknowledge the fact that Capirossi might well have been leading the championship(possibly by a large margin even over Rossi) had he not been involved in the big crash earlier this season which resulted in injuries that basically ended his '06 championship. And, the list "could" go on.......

So, sorry but using the "bad luck early in the year" argument in "just" Rossi's favor indicates bias and lacks credibility.

no need for swearing big man........

Reading to learn something new maybe? Circling the wagons time after time may have been a favourite pasttime for the original Americans, here it gets long in the tooth. How many more times does Bailyrock have to write the same lines goofy.gif

And you are plain wrong assuming I'd follow your take on things if Rossi got bowled over.
Been going to GP since '86 (Assen that year was won by Wayne Gardner and saw the GP debut of Kevin Schwantz) and attnding Superbikes at Assen for yonks as well. So I guess I have seen a few moves. That Is Racing.

Time to finish my drink a get some kip.

Swearing? That ain't swearing. If you want to hear some swearing, find an area in your neighborhood where some adolescents hang out and listen for a while. blink.gif (BTW, I would have been in a lot more trouble saying "cars suck" than saying "hell" when I was growing up. ) wink.gif

I'd be doing the same thing in Rossi's, Melandri's or Caparossi's benefit if their teammate had knocked them out of contention with a bonehead move. It has nothing to do with circling the wagons. If Hayden were already out of the points chase, I wouldn't mind cheering for one of the other guys in the hunt. I like Rossi, Caparossi, and Melandri, the top points guys behind Hayden before the last race. I'd have a hard time choosing which to root for cause I like them all.

Attending races makes you special? So what does it take for you to see the stupidity of Pedrosa's crash? Would it take you being in the points lead and your own teammate knocking you off to basically lose a decent shot at the title to get it? I Googled "Netherlands rivalry" to see if anything popped up and it kept popping up Anglo-Dutch with a hit or two on Dutch-Germany for football (soccer). I guess you just don't like us so you are happy for anybody to win it but an Anglo...or a German in football. wink.gif beer.gif

Funny that although pendejo did own up to his mistake, you feel he's not responsible. Blame everyone or everything (Honda, racing, HRC, Nicky, the smell of the umbrella girls) but not the indivdual himself. warranty.gif

I didn't say he wasn't responsible for his actions, what I said was that he was young and agressive and made a dumb mistake. That doesn't automatically mean he's a bad person or that he deserves to be strung up by the testicles. He is paid to race motorcycles and win and he must do so very agresssively to keep that job. Controlling him is his team/owner's job and they apparently failed to do so. When I was 19, I was being trained/maintainted by my government to behave in a very aggressive manner. This aggressive behaviour encompased my entire world and impacted every activity I was involved in and my interactions with every person I came in contact with. As a result, I can relate to his state of mind.

You were also trained to take care of your buddy (teammate). Most people who have actually faught in wars said they were fighting "for my buddy". If you want to make it a comparison to the military, you should consider the race as a war, not as training. Pedrosa should have been there for his "buddy" or teammate, fighting against the enemy. Train to be agressive, but train to be agressive toward the enemy and not cause casualties due to "friendly fire".

I'd blame Honda for not reigning him in a tad before I'd blame Pedrosa for doing what they ask of him.

See ya' did it again. blink.gif It's not the individuals' fault, huh? Big mean old HRC did it.

I can hear you pleading his case on the floor of the SupremeBike Court:

"Your honor, please have some mercy on poor little dani. He don't know what he's doing. He played too much nintendo when he was kid and never learned math. He only knows how to race, not to think".

Ya know. I wonder. Let's assume our "hey, it was a really stupid thing to do, but it was a racing accident, Dani didn't mean to do it, let's move on" brethern are riding home tomorrow and are run into a ditch by a cell phone yakking, red light running soccer mom in a Hummer. Do you think, "hey she was really stupid, but she didn't mean to do it, it was a traffic accident, let's move on" would offer much in the way of consolation?

Thing is, in reality Hayden's only hope is to do just that, "move on" and more. He needs to move on with a ferocity that he's shown only on a few occasions. I hope he does. It would be nice if he won it. It won't wreck my year if Valentino does. His comback has been masterful (reminiscent of CE's comeback in WSBK in 2002). However, like the soccer mom, Pendejo doesn't get a pass on this, at least not from me.

I have been knocked out of Championships myself, sometimes on purpose! It sucks big time, but there is little that can be done about the Past.

This Team order stuff has me thinking....
Same happened to me when i was younger. i remember the start of the 1984 AMA district 5 (Pa) motocross series. the first race i was lined up with the 39 other riders. at the start they left me. i caught a few but they passed me again..... i think they were all working in a concerted effort to defeat me.....to which they did. team orders??? they were all on different brands!!! some even the same as the KTM i was riding!!!!(although they were rare back then)

the conspiracy continues.... unsure.gif
