VFR Discussion Group -> I'm just a checkbook mechanic, but

48,000+ miles on my VFR, and time to do the maintenance I've been putting off.
Valve adjust due, hydraulic fluid and coolant changes, plugs, filters, steering head bearings. It got easier to contemplate writing a fat check instead of spending all the time and battered knuckles. Not to mention the numerous garage words. :pissed:

I'd need help on the valves and steering head at least. Too much to ask of a friend to do all that. So I'll pay to play, no illusion it will be cheap. Hopefully nothing much more than above. Well I'll need a front tire soon. :goofy:

Jeff, I was going to stop in to the parts dept and say hi, but by the time I got done with Eric the wife was waiting and we were running late to my folks in Camarillo. Catch ya when it's ready. Make sure those guys in the garage take good care of it. I know they will. :thumbsup:

You must be gettin' old. I'm starting to feel the same way about those kinds of things. If I can't pop the fairings and do a simple remove and replace type of job like oil, plugs, filters, (or the plug & play R/R ;) ) I would just rather write the check. I have a wife and two little girls that demand a huge portion of my non-working hours and my ride time is very precious. Fortunately for me, my local dealership is 1/4 mile from my office so I can drop it off and walk the rest of the way to work and so far I have been lucky enough to not feel they deserve the "stealership" title. I'm sure they are making money but sometimes my time is worth more.

Exactly, and they do a better job than I could. Not my specialty. :idea3:
