Original parts are a nice Starter Kit for another 86 VFR. 1993 F2 wheels and forks with RT Springs and Emulators, RC36 front calipers and (modded) rotors.
Yep, I'll second that although I found the VF500F2 with Metzeler ME33 tyres upped in width from standard by 10mm all round and an aftermarket shock worked really well in 1986. But that bike you've put together; hmm just perfect.

The 500 was/is an exception. It's (relatively) light weight allowed it to work pretty damn good. Even the stock shock, while not great, wasn't completely overwhelmed.
