I have thought about changing the rear tail plastic on my red 98 to black so that it blends with the seat better, I suck at editing photos so I have no way of testing it first. :huh:

i am going out of town this weekend or else i would have the time. if no one else offers, email a picture of your bike to aaron at jccaters.com and i will chop it when i get the chance. im not the most skilled, but can give ya an idea of how it would look.
You might also think about a different set of wheels altogether. I test fit a stripped/polished 4th gen rear wheel on Murphy and it looked awesome. The 4th gen wheels are usually pretty cheap, and match the 5th gen front better than the 5th gen rear when it's stripped IMO.

For the colors, Beck has blended the rear red with a black front part of the rear fairing. That takes care of the "rolling red wall" feeling I sometimes get when I see my own bike. Take a look at his avatar.

I just did the tail section of my 94 in Satin Black to match the lower fairing. I mainly did this as a temporary paint job to cover some of the flaws that were in the plastic where several cracks were welded,.... so I could ride until I get my thum solo seat.... I will post a picture over the weekend for you...... it really doesn't look that bad..

I agree, 180 is OK on a 4:th gen 5" rim, but ask ULEWZ what he thinks...

Here are some pics of the tail section changed on my 98. I'm stil not sure what my final thoughts are. :huh: The factory pipe is there cause I'm waiting for my Micron High Mount to come in!!!!
That is probably the nicest cleanest VFR750 I have seen. The black treatment is subtle and looks great IMO.
Got VFR, 1) I have to tell you I really DO NOT like the silver edge on the wheels. It looks like a Kawasaki from the early 90s and sorry to be so blunt. When those gloss black VFR wheels are shined up they look so hot and better than the Ducati 916 that it originally emulated. 2) Also I agree that the red seat cowl looks odd. However, the black rear looks pretty cool ... a bit like a 954 IMO. Nice work. Your gutsy to ask for honest feedback!

Getting there, The black paint seems to get some of that heavy/thick look out of the tail but you might consider pulling some of that satin black detailing towards the front to balance it out a bit. A black bellypan? Black paint on those four depressed areas on the side radiator fairing vents? Black or CF Fender? Maybe Painting the small Naca ducts on the side fairing panels black might help too! :rolleyes: You must understand why I can't help but add that last one! :thumbsup:
I do plan on getting another cowl, hopefully in black. I also have considered the use of the front fender change like you said Beck. I just figured with the price of parts from time to time I could easily experiment at it without extensive money investment.
As far as the wheels go, I intend on having them powder coated this winter, not sure what color, that is on hold till it gets cold again! :D
Might even try the front fender in silver, don't know. :beer:
If I could hook up with other VFR owners and switch panels at will, to get the right combo, now that would be ideal.
Thanks for the comments though, it gives me an idea on how the bike will or won't be accepted out and about!!!!
