FYI, A friend told me today that there's a front page article in the Ventura County Star concerning the major enforcement campaign that's starting in the SM mtns.
Apparently the large numbers of "stunters" that hang out and do burnouts, wheelies, etc. just above the Rock Store at the "overlook" have pissed enough people off that law enforcement is going to have to crack down with heavy patrols and lots of ticketing.
So thanks to the stunter/squid crowd more of the roads get screwed up :pissed:
VFR4Lee, Apr 16 2005, 02:35 AMRemember a few years back they closed the road altogether? I won't be going there on the weekend soon I guess. Too bad.
Track day coming up soon! Oh, yeah! B)
Yeah, I remember :pissed:
Cool on the track day....should be good....I didn't know that you guys ride with Pablo(Pantalbo) from the 600RR board. He asked me (on the 600 board) if I knew you guys from VFRD...to which I replied "of course'
He mentioned the track day that I guess you're all going to and asked if I wanted to come. I would, but as I told him(you're going to hate me) I'll be at Freddie Spencer's Level II class Mon-Wed...... I know they're going to abuse me though :goofy:
Pablo's a good guy, and a good rider. Have you seen BurnTheEdge? ? Mostly local SoCal folks. Good crowd. Local rides organized (sort of) online. When you gonna ride with us, Craig? :D
Das Bone, Apr 15 2005, 08:05 PMYeah, I remember :pissed:

Since when has the area around the Rock Store not had a bunch of cops hanging out trying to catch squids?
ULEWZ, Apr 16 2005, 03:10 PMVery good point, but imagine the regular oink patrol at 3 fold. When they are on a mission, they pull you over for just looking fast. No thank you.
Exactly...and theyr'e on a mission now unfortunately.
Not exactly a flame... just one rider throwing out his side.
You know us better than that, Das Bone. You've spent enough time on .net to know we give the squids the boot. ;)
Well, maybe "flame" was too harsh a description, but he was missing my point by trying to equate "normal" sport riding with irresponsible stunting in areas that inconvenience, aggravate, and are basically dangerous to everyone else on the road.
His reference to accidents on the section of Mulholland from the Overlook down to the Rock Store as being the cause of the problems.....yeah obviously that doesn't help either...but who are the one's usually crashing there.....the squids and or riders lacking in common sense. I don't even ride that section much anymore just for that reason.....never know if someone's going to be coming the other direction in my lane.
I made the posts as a FYI, public service kind of thing....nothing more...nothing less.
BTW, In terms of the "squids" on .net.....I agree there's far, far less than any of the other 600RR boards that I've checked into B) ......but respectfully I'd have to disagree with you if you're saying there aren't any at all.....spend more time here and I think you'll see the difference.
