I keep seeing threads about one of us spotting a fellow VFR rider out on the roads. On the SV board I frequent we have a single sightings thread so that all the sightings are consolidated and people can check to see if they've been spotted (always neet to be spotted by a fellow board member).
So I'll start....
Saw a yellow 5th gen yesterday (4/27) around 5:20pm on Pomarado Rd in San Diego.
You are probably normally seeing me. Yesterday though I wasn't there. 2 days ago around that time it would have been me. I take that way home when there is a lot of traffic on the 15, so pretty much every day.
Hi Kr0nus, I work in Carmel Mtn Ranch, and zip across Camino Del Norte (under I15) about that time everyday. I know the Red ones aren't as visible as the Yellow ones, because the Red ones are so much faster! squid.gif

I saw a 4th gen at about 7:15am this morning going southbound on hwy. 85 around Saratoga... This is a good thread, I see a lot of SF Bay Area VFRs on the road, maybe a local meet would be in order?
I see a red VFR 6 gen on the 405 going South from the Valley to westwood on the carpool line. I would like to talk to him. I see he's got his hi beams on and they FLASH. I would like to get that on my bike. So if you here on VFRD PM please. I would like to get some info. Thanks
Once in a while I see a Red VFR, an Asphalt VFR and a silver VFR (all of them 6th gen) at different times on the 60 freeway through or around Moreno Valley. They prolly think I'm a squid though as they are poking along and I'm lanesharing at a reasonable volume. I've waved but never taken the time to notice if they notice me or not.
Kr0nus, May 4 2006, 12:09 PMDid you get on at center city and get cut off by an SUV? If so yup, that was me.
Yup... that was me. Risks of splitting traffic... and letting old people drive biggrin.gif The best part was how she had to get over so bad that she was blocking both lanes.

Were you flashing your lights the whole time manually or do you have a strobe button or somthing?

Saw an older (5th gen?) Yellow VFR riding West on Horizon Ridge around 5PM May 5th in Henderson, NV. I was going uphill (East) on my red '02 VFR w/Givi topcase. It's pretty rare to see another VFR in my neck of the woods. Seen quite a few down in Vegas.
Sierra ave is just West of Devore and Kenwood Ave is Just North of Devore, all within 5 miles of each other as you head North on the 15 on your way to Las Vegas.
Anyone from here that was on a red 5th gen(?) that was on Spunky Cyn on Sun. that remembers giving the slow down due to sand to a couple of guys on CBR's as we were heading up Spunky over to Bouquet(sp)??
Asphalt 6th gen in the carpool lane on the 57 South in Fullerton at about 8:30 am today - anyone here? I'm the one on the silver 6th gen with the Givi topcase that passed you and gave you a thumbs-up!

I might be the silver one...I used to live in moreno valley, but not I live in riverside. I'm always out and about, if I'm going east I'm going to the 243 in banning. smile.gif You might think I'm a squid because I do the same thing, so maybe its not me after all. Sometimes 'm wearing an orange reflective vest, black leather alpinestars jakect, and a black helmet with a mirrored shield. I've only seen a yellow 5th gen around here...
Well you would have remembered. I was behind you for a while and passed you at a stop sign along with a Ninja 500. Highland Valley is in Escondido (or Poway?) though man.

Yeah, Bay Area meet! I see a bunch around, too! Maybe do the drive around Berryessa or something. Lot's of good rides around here. fing02.gif

We need to hook up for a ride soon 'Capn. I really want to do one up 49 when it warms up a bit. You're probably sick of that road!
If you feel like a jaunt down to the Bay Area, there's plenty of roads down here!

Cool, I graduated from Placer HS up in Auburn. Oddly, I haven't had the opportunity to ride up there much! Been down here for 9 years. I would LOVE to do Mosquito. Been dieing to do it actually. Wanna wait till it's a bit cleaner and warmer though. Maybe March or April?
You should think about meeting me at Cordelia for the Berryessa roads. There's a route we like to do through there that is very fun. Wish you coulda made it out for the flaf revisited ride. It was very spirited with a nice small group of fellas. Groups that get too big are never too fun, imo.
I also regret not hooking up for the ride to MotoGP. I ended up doing HMY 9 up to Alices (met some of the Washington VFRD dudes up there!!) and then down to Santa Cruz by myself. It was FUN.
Saw a '07 RWB VFR headed west on Bear Valley Road this afternoon in Victorville (near the college). I was headed east on Bear Valley in my 4th gen. :+1: The RWB looked schweet!!!

I just moved out here to San Francisco from Boston about a week ago. My riding season went from approx 4 months per year to just about 12!!!!
Luckily the company paid for the move, so my 94 VFR came with me (and the Chevy Tahoe stayed behind). Unfortunately, I have to go back to the snow next week for a company meeting, so the bike is in the shop getting EVERYTHING done it to - New Pirrellis, chain + sprockets, full fluid changes, you name it. I will basically have a brand new VFR when I get back.
I brought it to Subterranean Cycles here in downtown SF, becuase supposedly they have one of the best VFR guys in the state there (who also rides a 4g). Does anyone else have any experience with them?
On another note - I'm hoping to plan a trip down to LA to see some close friends that all play in a great hard rock band. Anyone down to take a ride sometime next month if we get a clear strip of weather?
Anyway, maybe you'll see me around the city. I have a V&H stainless slip on, Corbin seat, Arai black + red helmet and possibly (depending on my mood that week) matching Corbin beetle bags on the back.

Cool, another 4th gen! Welcome to the Bay Area. I will show you all the roads you need to see, and it will take A LONG TIME!! You are going to LOVE IT HERE. Some of the best riding in the USA, imo.
Subterranean has a good rep around here, but I had no idea they had a VFR guy there. Very good to know. Look for a pm.....
I saw a white 6th generation heading east on Craig Rd at about 7:30AM on 1/26/08 and then I saw a yellow 5th generation going from 5th street onto Cheyenne and onto I-15 Southbound at about 11AM on 1/26/08 while I was on my red 6th generation. I hate to say he was riding like a squid weaving in and out of traffic and he had smoke from burning oil coming out his exhaust.
Got passed by a silver 6th Gen on west-bound I-210 at around 11:45 AM today while driving from Palm Springs to Yuba City. Was carrying a decent amount of gear on the back of his bike.

If ya go up to Red Rock on the weekends you'll occasionally see me either on Silver or a Red 03. I could also be seen on various others

Yeah, that was probably me, only from that angle and at my extremely high rate of speed, it probably looked silver, though my bike is black. Uh...and...yeah, that wasn't gear, that was my girlfriend...I know, I know....she's a bit....big but hey!!!
Just kidding...I saw the thread and was thinking about it today at work, this is like the "missed connections" part of Craigslist, just how likely is it that you will truly get a response from the "bogey" you spotted out there in the wild?
Ok, I'm late to the party. About a month ago, I passed a 93 VFR on Marshall-Petaluma Road. If you've been on that road, you know it's rare to pass anybody.
The only oher VFRs I see, are people I know.

I was in the haight yesterday with 2 harleys and a buell and I saw another 5th gen at Cha Cha Cha......
By the way anyone who want a pretty kick ass cuban style meal...thats the place to go ...

That was probably me, since unless someone else moved up here with one, I've got the only RWB sold up here... Chances are I was wearing a red jacket? We'll have to go ridin sometime... I like to take her out Main Street to the backside of 273 that meets up with 138 to the 15. Lot of switchbacks with elevation changes, sounds sweet with the V4 over 7,000...
I was headed down Kanan road from the 101 to Latigo canyon on an 07 RWB and I passed a silver 6th Gen, was that anybody here? (Saturday 3/1)
As a side note, I got about a half mile up Latigo canyon and I couldn't see 10 ft in front of my bike because of the fog so I cautiously turned around and headed back. I was meeting up with some friends @ Point Dume State Beach so I just continued down Kanan road which wasn't exactly the ride I was hoping for... oh well, next time. I'm looking out the window today and wishing I had time to go riding as it's now bright and sunny. http://www.vfrdiscus...tyle_emoticons/default/sad.gif
Red 6th Gen headed south on the 101 near Laurel Canyon around 2:30-ish, was that anyone here? You passed me in the silver 4-door cage... you know, the one that looks like every other car on the road?
I ride my 07 RWB from Pasadena to Van Nuys almost every day (yup even when it rains, I don't have a car) Today was one of those rare days I got to borrow the wife's car with all them fancy luxuries like heating, A/C, a roof, seat back, stereo!. However I very rarely see any other VFR's on my commute so it was kind of nice to see one for a change.

we should go ride some time if you don't mind a slow guy. i just got my vfr a few weeks ago and i'm a new rider but my friend rides every sunday and i'm trying to tag along as much as i can to get some experience under my belt. we went all over the canyons this past sunday morning. topanga, latigo, kanan, las virgenes, mulholland, and took the pch up to camarillo.
I played with a yellow 5th Gen VFR on the SF Bay Bridge during this afternoon's commute. The rider had on all black and I think a tail or tail bag. I was on a silver 6th Gen with a black backpack. Good to know there are other VFR's in the East Bay! :D
I was riding around the canyons earlier today with a couple of my buddies and I passed by a red 5th gen while I was on Mulholland. I think I saw him a couple times actually while making the rounds. Could it have been anyone here that was up there today?

Hey Rocklin VFR dude-
I live out in Granite Bay and have a 98 vfr. Unfortunately in the shop getting the fricken charging system fixed, but should be done shortly. I ride Mosquito Ridge as much as possible- got a buddy on an FJR that is usually with me- once the bike is back, let's hit it!

That would be cool if you don't mind waiting on someone slower. :D
I was on Big Tujunga today with two other VFR's and an SV 1000 and saw a red VFR(6th gen) parked at the Hidden Springs Cafe @11:15 ish................anyone from the board here?
Was riding up in the Big Bear/Crestline area today and ran across 2 red 6th generations. FULLY LOADED. Turned out to be the two guys who created the Destination Highways maps. They are working on a new map for Southern California. Ended up finding them again maping out hwy 138/173 down by Hesperia. Looks like an interesting project, the website is www.destinationhighways.com
First I saw 2 5th gen, 1 yellow and 1 red parked at the Mad River cafe along highway 36 last Friday, April 24th at about 2:30PM
The next day (Saturday, April 25th) I saw a red 6th generation pulling out of a steakhouse parking lot in Burney, CA at about 7PM. I saw a guy sitting at a close table wearing riding pants and then saw that he was on a VFR as he was pulling out of the restaraunt. I actually thought my bike was being stolen until I realized that his had different exhaust cans on it.
I got passed on the 405 North today just before the 118 by a silver 6th gen in the carpool lane. I was on the 07 RWB with soft saddlebags, was that anyone here?
How funny...I was going to post about the tri colore I saw tonight. Yup, that was me. Saugus to Westwood day in and day out. When Von Dutch was working at the car museum in Anaheim he took to calling himself Joseph Le'Pail. That's what I've been lately Joe Lunchbox. Do you commute from Pasadena to points south?
I haven't been riding for fun much the last year or so. I have aging parents in Santa Maria that require care. I was hoping to make a Marina Suzuki ride this Sunday, they're usually a lot of fun, baring that I was going to try to find or set up a ride the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend if anyone's interested.
Once in a great while when I don't take my dog (Grandma loves Nana the dog) I ride to Santa Maria out the 126, 150, 33, 150, 292, 154, Foxen Canyon and back the 166, 33 or Cerro Nuestro, Lockwood Valley, 138, Pine Canyon, Lake Hughes Road, 5 and home. I'd thought that route would be fun with a group and without me stopping in Santa Maria to deal with Medicare and that kind of stuff if anyone's interested and I can get away.

It was great to see you.
Sweet, it was good to see you too. I commute from Pasaadena to Van Nuys (210, 118, 405) year round on my bike, and I don't make it out for many fun rides either. Let me know if you set up a ride, it would be nice to meet you in person instead of just the seeing back side of your helmet
Keep seeing a nice 6th gen with top box and dude wearing yellow Aerostich. Going from Oakland/Berkeley up 24 to Lafayette. Usually splitting lanes right behind going through the Caldecott tunnel. Then, see it parked in Lafayette sometimes. Anyone on here?
Also, saw a 4th gen like mine the other day on the same stretch of road. :fing02:
Also, see a guy parked across the street from work. Red 6th gen. Across from the Tile Imports building near 4th street in Berkeley....Anyone????
Saw two 6th Gens heading South on the 15 past Escondido into the Miramar area. One white and one silver (white looks the biz by the way :fing02: ). Will the rider of the Silver bike please use your turn signals and read up on staggered riding techniques, mmmm thanks. :fing02:
Oh I was on the RC51...VFR should be out of the shop soon.
I was sitting out in front of Fox Coffee in Redlands on Tuesday evening after a bicycle ride. Several sport bikes were parked next to the outside seating and then a red 6th gen VFR with red hardbags pulled up. They all took off immediately after the VFR's arrival, so I didn't get a chance to talk to the VFR owner. My guess is SGVridgerunner and everyone was heading over to Zorba's for Bike Night?
Saw a 5th gen, yellow with underseat exhaust & polished wheels. On the Silverado trail in Napa. I was on the Black 6th gen that waved to you then turned into Napa. Hope you are on here.

I've pulled off the highway on the exit just before that bridge because I needed to wait a few minutes until 3:00 so I wouldn't have to pay the toll. I see you have the timing down to a science.
Saw a red 6th gen with black sidebags on Hwy 9 today coming from Boulder Creek, I let you pass me. We were in my wifes 4runner. Then I think I saw you again stopped at the intersection of Skyline & Hwy 9, parked in a parking lot.

If your on the 134 between 7:45 and 8:00 you will probably see me going the other way. I live in VN and drive to Glendale. Wed thru Fri this week I will be on my old mule (Yami Virago) as I have to go near LAX for training after work and will not risk the Honda. Were still on our honeymoon.
1. Folsom, Ca. July 4th, about 12:30 pm. Red 6th gen on the side of the road on Folsom Blvd, under the 50 overpass near folsom auto mall. Looked like a cell phone call stop.
2. Sloughhouse, Ca. July 6th. Red 5th gen. Filling up at the Chevron station across from Rancho Murieta. Probably around 2:30 pm.
I was in the Grad Prix on the way home from work at about 4:30 this afternoon and saw a red 5th gen get on the 805 going south into San Diego from Mira Mesa Blvd. exit. Rider had a Black Joe Rocket jacket (maybe mesh?) and the seat cover was on the rear seat.
Saw a silver 6th gen two-up in Julian on 7/27. Turning left off of Main Street in front of Miner's Diner... I tried honking... as did some of the rest of our group...
Aussie and I saw a Y2K Yellow 5th gen pulling out of the Mt. Charleston Lodge yesterday around 11AM as we were pulling in. Had Givi black hard luggage and may have been paired up with a Goldwing that was pulling out at the same time.
Saw a red 5th gen on the slab this AM between the 5/805 split and Mira Mesa Blvd. I was headed northbound on the 805 The other rider, wearing black was in lane 3/4 on the other side, after the 52 connector.

Ok, you are the one we all want to meet...
I see you all over, you see me all over. At least once a week on 580 between Pleasanton and the Bay or San Mateo bridges. Once in Tahoe, twice around Santa Cruz, you even waved to me and seemed to recognize me as I ate a buger in Half Moon Bay and you rolled by looking like you just left Mavericks. But I think you live near me.
You are a beautiful, tall, blonde woman with a pony tail hanging out the back of your helmet. You have at least four colors of leathers and at least that many different colors of sunglasses.
You ride a "Candy Dark Red" 07. You seem to have a great attitude and I thank you for the time we've spent together.
I think I've seen you watching me from overpasses. We've played in the canyons, split a few lanes, and blasted the slab.
Sometimes I see you and then you disappear, once you seemed to push me out of the way just as some gardener on his cell decided I was invisible.
I've begun calling you Victoria, at first it was Vicki Viffer, but you seem more sophisticated, more like a Victoria, but you seem to have a playful Vicki side too so I never know.
Sometimes I wonder if you are an angel or a ghost. There are stories of the "White Witch" who has frequented some of the canyons here for the past hundred years or so, maybe you are her.
Whoever you are, you always seem to have a smile and a wave even from the other side of the freeway.
You are beautiful and I love seeing you and playing with you.I think I'm going to throw up. There is no emoticons that expresses my feelings right now.

Friday Aug 22 at 445pm on the 405 south fwy around the 110 and 710. I saw a white 6th gen vfr with a black top case in the carpool lane. Moments later I saw a red 5th gen vfr with a top case going northbound on the 405. Looked like Ken's solo rack.

07' RWB (or it could have been an '08 Wheatie!) pulling out of Shell Station corner of Park Ave/Palmdale Ave in VICTORVILLE at 9:15am today. dark blue/black jacket. If that's you, you are now my twin. I also have a 07' RWB (or it could be an 08' Scott) with a blue/black jacket. We must meet. Didn't see any luggage, figured you're local. Someone had mentioned they saw my bike on a Tuesday a couple weeks back. So I'm pretty darn sure you're up here.
Also a 6th gen RED seen Saturday morning 6:30-7:30 between Palmdale Rd and the college, on industrial, hesperia rd, all over. I tried to catch you but was in a cage and quickly realized it might look odd chasing down a bike for no reason...
Saw an 07 RWB with Berts license plate frame and no license plate heading south on the 5 fwy near Irvine around 7:30am on Tuesday 8/26. You passed me in the carpool lane I was also on an 07 RWB
Saw a 5th Gen (thanks, Michaelf3) go by the photo shoot on ACH south of Mt. Wilson turnoff around 10:30 yesterday.
(could have been that illusive 08, Shayne)
Saw an Earlier, ('87 F2) downtown Huntington Beach this morning. Spoke to the guy, gave him our web addr, said he'd like to check it out. Lives in Downey, Cal.
Saw a 6th gen., red, stock-ish appearance headed northbound on Interstate 15 at about 12:15pm between Main St. and Bear Valley Rd. exits (Hesperia, CA). I was headed southbound with co-workers to lunch. Yes, red is the fastest color.
Well in that case, Asphalt Black is the fastest color. I would recommend taking it out on the color debate thread if we wanna talk about the fastest color.

'07 RWB spotted heading West on Bear Valley towards Southbound 15 onramp. 6:15am.
Shayne,
I thought you would have posted the RWB we saw while having (waiting for) lunch on the Idyllwild ride. I am terrible at gen spotting, 07?

10/02/08: Saw a 6th gen RWB headed northbound on the 605 freeway around 4:30 pm. It was near Industry, near the I-10 east interchange. Rider had a blue helmet.
Saw a '84 RWB 700f westbound on Bolsa Chica heading toward Warner Ave, Huntington Beach
around 2:15..... too busy looking at the bike to notice anything about the rider. NICE !
I've seen all sorts of Viffer riders but i'll be f@#$ed if I bother posting about it. Seems replys to spottings are almost non-existant, i've gotta better chance at a Casino $$$$$$

"in the wild"
HA!
I'm seeing at least four a week on commute duty on 101, 280 n 237. Reds, yellow even black.
One all together red 4th gen parked 2 ft from a corner lot home's sidewalk next to a highschool for the last month. And it's been raining!
Sat. 4/7 Turning north onto Skyline from La Honda Rd. One red 7th gen pulled into Alice's and a red 5th gen continued north to 92 east into San Mateo. I jumped on 280 north.
Fri 4/6 traveling south on 280 in the cage by Cupertino an Asphalt 6th gen w/ top box came from behind and exited Foothill Exp as it rolled even with me.
Sat. 5/19, parked at Mike's Bikes on El Camino, Palo Alto, a red 4TH GEN.
Mon 5/21 on morning commute traveling north on Hwy 85 and Hwy 17, a red 6th Gen w/ matching top box.
