I spotted a 6th gen VFR this evening while I was responding to a house fire. I didn't get a good look, but I saw it good enough to know it was a 6th gen sporting some hard bags.
If any of you were near Huntingdon, TN today, I tried to wave, but I was in a bit of a hurry.

Full time teacher, part time firefighter for the city, volunteer for the county...maybe that's why I wanted a red VFR!

I teach 8th grade Science. I don't know if I'm anybody's favorite, but several kids are always bringing guitars to me because they don't know how to change strings, tune by ear, etc. and they always want me to show them how to play stuff. I've even done a bit of luthier work on some of their cheaper guitars to get them into playable condition.
Geezzzz!! What a small world. I am from CA, and was in TN on business the last few days, and spotted that bike on my way from Cookeville to Nashville and snapped a pic as it went by.....Here it is:

WOW! That's probably the same guy I saw. He was wearing jeans and a riding jacket, and had hard bags, but I can't remember if he had anything strapped to the tail or not. It was dusk and as I said earlier, I was in a bit of a hurry. :)
Do you remember what part of the interstate you were on? If you were near Nashville when the pic was taken (looks like it was around 4:00 by the shadows), he probably had time to make it here by dusk.
Since you got a good side by side look at him...what kind of bags did he have? IIRC, the Hondaline bag inside half is black, but these look solid red.
I was probably about 30 miles east of Nashville when I took the pic. He did have on light blue jeans and a silver Joe Rocket mesh jacket (I have the same jacket).
The funny thing is, though, about the bags: I think they were home made or something. I have the Hondaline bags for my 04, and these were a lot wider at the back. The shape looked very similar, but I am almost positive that they were not Honda bags because of the width at the rear, plus there was something else that looked a little off about them. In fact, when he passed me I tried to catch up to him, but I had seen a radar car monitoring traffic a few miles back and didn't want to find out if there was a second one. Plus the rental car that I had was amazingly gutless, so I don't think I could have caught him even if I wanted to. He was doing about 90 or so.

I saw him from the front. I thought the top of the bags a more contoured shape than Hondaline or Givi bags. After seeing your pic, I know I wasn't imagining things. I wish we could locate him so we could find out what they are.
Yep!! Those were them for sure. I remember the "dents" on the back and thinking, "Wow, they sure did a crummy fiberglass job on the back of those bags". I did not know that Corbin also made bags fr the VFR (I should, though, because I am considering their Beetle Bags for my Hayabusa). Well, I guess that is it - mystery solved.
You folks sure do have some nice scenic roads in TN, though!
