Not that I am ungrateful for their gesture, but I am not interested in a shock upgrade at this point. What I am interested in is the Power CommanderIII that they have on sale for $275.00. Maybe they could mark them down similar to what they marked the Ohlins down. Could you check Larry?

They show the K&N for $59 but Cyclemall.com has them for $48. Just let them know and they will match the price. I ordered the K&N for a 2000 VFR as it will fit. wheel.gif

Toneout, I also got my PCIII and K&N from hardracing.com. Only 259.00 and I think 30.00 for the o2 elim. Would you be willing to dyno your bike before you install all the go fast goods??? Ill pay for it, I just never got a chance to do this, and I am very interested to find out if I have gained any hp, or if I only gained driveability. They set up a few dynos every year for bike week.
Your bike said it was ok, she just needs you to ride her over here to the dyno........
I have bought a few items from Frank, The PC3 I bought for Jean-Michel was from CM, it was the same price as Hard Raceing, But again it was in limited supply at the time. I dont see it listed now, but you could call them.
racer944vfr, that sounds cool. If my bike said yes, who am I to disagree. I was hoping to get my go faster goodies before then. I am however at the mercy of D&D, who seem to be dragging their heels about their new pipe. And then it takes a while before there is a map available, so my bike will probably be in the same state when bike week comes along. Maybe that's a good thing because I might be able to pick the stuff up cheaper then. But the dyno sounds cool. There is one at the track in the infield sometimes.
New map for a D&D? heh :goof: I have a 98 and there is STILL no Power Commander Map for a D&D 98-01. I e-mailed them if they have anything and they told me no, your on your own if you get a D&D slipon and want to remap the fuel spread. I use a map from another pipe thats has the same charactoristics, a Two Brothers map actually.
Toneout, There are dyno's all over the place, my buddy at Bankstons has one year round (on 92 near I-95) we can use that, if you get the parts, ive got a race shop and we can install all your new parts in no time after the dyno run, I dont mind helping at all. You can always install the Staintune map, Im sure its close to anything else, and I have all the maps in my laptop, so it takes seconds.
:bow: These are great prices on Ohlins,but I don't know why the 02 VFR shock (rebound and pre-load) from Ohlins doesn't offer the same(better) features as they do for the 98-01 VFR (comp., rebound,and pre-load adjustments w/ remote reservior) I don't think there's that much less room on the 02 and I want to spend that much without them! It will take a while(March), but I plan on having a custom map made for my 02 VFR on a DynoJet dyno after I get some miles on it. I will have exhaust and K&N installed, but I will make a stock run first for comparisons. It cost around $250 for a custom map, but should be worth extra power over the whole powerband! wheel.gif
Jean Michel has the Ohlins on his 02 he said the ride is a major improvement over stock. Even without the remote res, does it have the remote preload adjuster? I never looked into an 02 ohlins to find out.
I believe the 02 Ohlins comes with Preload adjuster and Rebound clicker. The Preload adjuster res. is attached to the main shock body (Something like the R1 OEM rear shocks) .
Sas thats cool, I need a new shock too, tax money will be getting me somthing for my 98! Mine is getting really bumpy after 26k miles. I will most likely get the Ohlins cause that price is amazing!

Hey Larry the Fox Twin clicker has the remote res for an 02, the Ohlins does not, also it has more compression and rebound adjustments, plus it has adjustable ride hieght.
The ohlins model for the VTEC does not have the remote res, it is a much scaled back version compared to the 98-01 ohlins, accounting for the $200 difference in price. I agree with sasrocks it is probably a better value to get the Fox for a VTEC.
I went with the Fox because all the evidence I could uncover did not indicate that the Ohlins was a demonstrably superior product. �The ohlins is probably more desirable because of its status, foriegn nature, name etc. �It seems to me just as many amateur racers use Fox (or Penske). �Their features appeared equal. �
I asked this very question (Fox v Ohlins) in another thread here, and basically it appeared both had their followers. �So I went or the 'equal' product at the better value point. �
I will let you all know what my experience was. �I did get a young dude taking the order (Frank passed me to him) and I did not get my questions adequately answered: 1. what exact spring will I be getting for my weight (185 in street clothes) and 2. what is the model # for the VFR shock. �I was looking for tangible proof the Fox I was getting was valved for the VFR. �I am fairly confident it is. I asked about this in another thread also.
I will call them again and get these details nailed down. �The shock is coming UPS ground and won't be shipped until Monday 2/3.
PS I have a 99 VFR so the features are essentially the same.
I just bought the Ohlins rear shock, $735 custom spring. I finnally wore out the OEM shock it was really getting bouncy after abusing it last year. After riding your bike I could tell right away my shock had wore out damping. :goof:

I'm sure it won't be long before it's installed. No way to check it out for a while, with the slick streets and such - maybe you can hook it up to your office swivel chair. :idea: Larry
He said it will be about a week, they used a spring rate for 245lbs, me, my gear, tankbag ect. I also orderd an RK gold chain and sprokets, my chain has had it 28K!! lots of miles on that chain!
I also took Lewis's advice on ServiceHonda.com for replacing that bad brake disk, best price I have seen, and it is NEW!
So there will soon be pictorials on chain replacement, brake disk replacement, and Shock installation, lots of new content in the coming month!
