Before setting off on my big ride to the ST-N National meet, and to avoid having to buy 4 AAs every other day, I'll hard wire my Garmin GPS V straight to the battery. I have a cable with the Garmin plug at one end (I'll find a rubber cap to, er, cap it when not in use), an inline 2A fuse and the connectors to go on the battery post of my 6th gen Viffer. Nice little package from 2wheelinnovations.
My plan is basically pop up the gas tank, remove the plastic part that covers the battery and then find a logical place to run that wire -- I'm trying not to remove the fairing, which has a small crack at the back bolt because of bad torquing (or placement just before that) from the previous owners.
Any hints, tips from those who have done this to their bike?
