I don't slow down much in wet conditions and need an exceptional wet grip tire, but with these prices" M1 Sporttecs for $149.99 for a 120/180 set. " I might try them. Who knows????
I've used M-1's in the wet and thought that they were ok, maybe not as good as a"sport-touring " type with more void area. I also tend to slow down a bit when it's wet, as I don't want a repeat of a major slippage I suffered years ago.

OK will not do for me, I push (to often) in wet also and need a very High Wet Grip tire. Diablos and my fav wet tire followed by Pilot Powers. I don't generally run sport touring tires. Anyone else ride hard in the wet with M-1's ?
Those are great prices for a great tire... you sure that isn't for just the front?
I don't remember them being bad in the rain. I haven't used them on my VFR but I had a set on my SV, I actually bought them down in NC when I was there on vacation. I think the first thing I did after I got them spooned on was head over to Deal's gap and ride the gap in the rain... they were fine.
But IMO all sport tires are better in the rain then S-T tires. S-T tires pretty much suck in the rain AFAICT.

You might check again on that price. On the internet they show 92.99 front and 124.99 rear, plus shipping! Maybe the 149 is a local store having a sale.
I run M1's and love em. I put mine on after I low sided in the rain with my Z's. I rode Pilot sports, Diablo's (which were great in the wet) and z's and I love the M1's the best for the wet.
I've got m1s, great dry tire and rated well by the publications. Rear tire quickly evaporates though. In the wet they were ok, last time I was caught in it at Palomar Mnt. I had no issues but I was being more careful, taking less risks. I've had two little tailslides on the same corner on Lilac (bike did not go down, pulled out of each) caused by fine sand washed in the road after a storm, they happened right after a semi-blind corner ohmy.gif . Little time to react when close to full lean. Changed my line drifted over the least covered spot and ass end drifted out then smoothly hooked right back up. I remember this corner like clockwork everytime I ride it now. But I like the tire, not too expensive either.

I have never run a better tire in the wet(rippen pace) than the standard Diablo ! Awesome dry tire too ! I currently run Pilot Powers, because the feel almost as good as the Diablo. Still a little off it in the wet though, but last a little longer. I've been getting around 1900-2100 miles from a rear Diablo and 2100-2400 miles from a PP rear. dry.gif

I failed to track it on the 2nd or 3rd Strada rear and only got around 2400 miles from the 1st one. sad.gif It would need to avg. at least 3000 miles before I would give up the extra grip and confidence of a Sport rear. I would tour on them though.
I haven't tried M1's on my VFR but I did have them on my CBR929 on the track.....their find on the street but wouldn't recommend them for the track. After a few hard laps they tend to slide a little too much for my taste.
I loved the M1's on my VTR. Great sticky tire in the dry. I don't try to ride too much in the rain and when I do, I slow down. One time following WERA910 in the rain I did do a two wheel slide around a right hander. Needless to say, that's probably what made me start slowing down in the rain. The front tire did about 7,500 miles and was great. No cupping (every other tire I've ever run on that bike cupped). The rear would only go about 2,500 miles so I did 3 rears to 1 front.
I've never had them on the VFR though. I've been really dissappointed in the Diablos though, so I may have to try the M1's to see if the mileage is the same. The VFR is my commuting bike and I can barely get 3,500 out of the rear tire on that. I get about 7,000 out of the front.
