two questions...
1. is it a common problem for 83 vf750's to have slippage in 2nd gear? mine has about 16,000 miles on it and at about 14,000 it started to slip in 2nd gear if i wind it out a bit. i have switched to synthetic oil in hopes of preventing the problem from getting worse.
2. does anyone have suggestions on what could be causing this? how difficult/expensive is it to fix?

thanks,
micah

There is a superceded part # for the second gear shift fork/dog or something along those lines. Contact your local dealer, or maybe someone more knowledgeable here can tell you.

Several years ago, when V REX belonged to my father, he added oil which contained powdered teflon. After a short while, the clutch slipped a little at high rpm / full throttle. New [stock] clutch plates and an oil change fixed it.
