should I change tires with new suspension?

As some of you may have read, I am upgrading with an Ohlins rear and Aftershocks is doing my forks in a couple of weeks.

Currently the bike has Avon Azorro tires on it. The compound seems hard and not real grippy, not like the Powers on my other bike.

If I were change tires, I would go with the Pilot Powers unless someone can convince me otherwise.

So my question is, do the Avon tires limit my new suspension upgrades and should I change the tires to maximize all the potential? My thought is yes but I want some other opinions since I don't know anything about Avon tires.

Yes and no! i was told the roadtec tires i'm running won't be adaquate for the new awesome ride you get with the suspension were getting, but was also told not to change tires, brakes or anything until you adjust to the new ride. i already bought the pilot powers but will wait a month after (if i can!) tongue.gif

Yes, change the tyres (and the tires too). Get the best you can get. Send me the Azaros, especially if they're the AV49/50-SP ones.

how do the tires do in the cold and wet? if you ride much year round i would think that would be your first priorty given the climate there.

I tend not to ride in the wet as when its wet here, its REALLY wet. I'm talking inches of rain at a time. As far as cold, it does not get cold here. Not much below freezing then it warms up into the 50's during the day. This week has been the exception, clear and 70's in the P.M.

The Powers do well in the wet from what I understand so that is no trade off.

Just checked, they are the 45ST/46ST. Let me know. Lots of miles left on them if I change.

One thought I had was to take the Powers off the other bike and put them on the 5th gen. Looking at the rubber it looks OK but mileage indicates 3700 miles on the set now so I guess I won't be doing that option...LOL
