I handmade this seat cowl, I think it is pretty cool, of course it is not painted yet. But I was thinking about making some more of them, but I need to know what other years it will fit onto. I made it for my bike of course. '87 VFR 700. Any ideas of knowledge on this would be greatly appreated
I think 86-89 were the same as far as the rear cowl goes. I'm sure there are others with more knowledge that will confirm or correct me. When you get a chance, take a pic from the side showing the entire side profile with the cowl on. Looks racy!
Kind of looks like a Hump Back Whale, would have to see the whole bike finished to get a real feel for it. Lots of work your doing, thats great. beer.gif
well when I get it all painted, and the rest of the bike too, so it actually looks good, I will post a picture of the whole bike.

It's got that "'Busa bump" going on. I kinda like it!
I applaud your go get 'em attitude and skills to do this kind of stuff. I've always wanted to venture into playing with fiberglass (other than cutting a hole in a brand new AirTech upper for a headlight) to make pieces the way I wanted them but never went past the "wanting to" phase. Riv has my admiration as well.
I LOVE IT! NO REALLY! IS PERFECT! Finaly a place where i can freaking stick my wallet a water bottle and my cell! That and if it had anice little padding on it....oooohhhh! If you make one and paint it pearl white i'll buy it from you!
I think the only differences in the cowl on the '86-'89 model is that some of them (I believe the Euro model and all from '88-'89) have little cut-aways near the bottom edges for the grab rails. Lookin' good, now hurry with the paint smile.gif j/k
I will definatly make you one. just send me an e-mail. All I have to do is to just get some finishing touches make sure it is perfect, and I will prime it post the pics, and then make a mold to make more. Just let me know, e-mail me shylion77@aol.com. It will come primed, you will need to paint it or have it painted, if you have the paint though and want to send that to me, i would be happy to do for an extra charge. I think I will sell them for like $150 plus Shipping and handling. Maybe like $200 + S&H if you want me to put a pad on the back of it for the rest of you. And it will have a lock on it, with keys, and trunk area accessable from underneath.
Mine's coming along nicely. Looks like the stock one, but a little taller and longer. Not much, just 3/4 of an inch taller and 1/2 an inch longer.
I also focused on eliminating the gaps that you see in the stock cowl. I wanted the gaps to be nearly eliminated. I offset the locating tabs to inside the cowl sides so it will almost fit flush to the tail covering up the slots they fit into. I think it looks a little cleaner.
So far I have about 10 shots of tequila into it. 2 shots per hour. beer.gif [image: user posted image] mycowl2.jpg.jpg
