I see Michelin has a new tire. The Pilot Power 2CT. This tire has softer compound at the edges achieving a 52deg. lean angle when dry (according to site) which is a tad better than the Pilot Power. This tire retains the same compound in the center so we should achieve basically the same mileage out of it.
Anyone tried these yet? Reviews look good. Anyone know where to get them? My usual suppliers don't list them yet (soutwest moto tires)
That was my thought but like I say, my intital search did not find any from usual suppliers or Ebay. I guess a call or two is in order to check availability and pricing.
been emailing southwest moto tires. they say they are not available to them yet and it usually is atleast 6 months after Michelin advertises them that they are available IF they bring them to the states at all. I am going to write Michelin and inquire as I would like to try a set.
The sizes shown on this page do not neccesarily mean that no other sizes will be available in the near future. In Germany each tire/motorcycle combination needs an official approval. So the motorcycles shown here already have this approval (freigabe) and more will hopefully follow. If not, the German VFR riders are not allowed to use the PP 2CT on their bikes as there is no 170 rear tire.
Euro prices of the PP 2CT are about �30-40 more then single compound PPs (a rear will sell at about �170)
I was at the STL supercross last night and michelin had a display tent in the dome. They had all of their street tires and their dirt tires, and there they where, the new CT's, the guy turned his nose to me when I told him I rode a VFR so I didn't as alot of questions, but he said you should get the same mileage out of it as the PP.

If that's the case then they should be awesome. I've been really happy with the few sets I've been through on my bikes both grip wise and mileage, so if the CT's will give the same type of mileage and have even better grip blink.gif ........ cool.gif

That's what I would think also, but they show two stars on commuting performance where the regular Pilot Powers show three stars on Michelin's website. unsure.gif
I am going to call michelin on Tuesday, since tomorrow is a Holiday and see when and if they are coming to the states. If they are not, I have a line on a few places overseas to order them from. If anyone else has info on stateside availability, please post.
Well I have a call into Michelin. They are in a meeting until later this morning.
I have also talked with Walt Schaffer who is the Michelin National East Coast Distributor. He told me he knows nothing about the tire other than I was the third person in the last few days to ask him about it so he is going to contact Michelin and find out whats going on.
I also talked with Western Power Sports who is a distributor. Dan told me again that I am the second person to ask him in two days about the tire but he does not have it available. Its only in Europe right now but he is going to check with others when they return from Indy on Wednesday.
I recieved and email from mototiresUK and while they have the tires in stock, they do not export. So I emailed back asking if that was a Michelin policy or their store policy. If store policy, then I asked if she (Teresa) would buy the tires and ship them to me as a personal favor? waiting on her reply.
Ok..after MANY phone calls to Michelin and being disconnected and getting folks who were about useless, I finally found out the Power 2CT tire is not going to come to the US at this time.
Michelins reasoning is that there are not enough aggressive street/track riders in the US vs. Europe to justify marketing it here. So we are stuck with a choice of either the Power Race or regular Pilot Power....atleast for now !!
Wonder why they had them at the supercross if they weren't going to bring them here. Maybe they are feeling the market or something..... who knows. I was really turned off by them and their attitudes, so I didn't get much info, wish I would have now.

no kididng..I did manage to find a couple of sets on European Ebay. Conversion with shipping would put a set at about $400. Way too much.
I did however manage to find my sister via a Google search. Sent an email to the agency to forward to her if they still know where she is. She is a freelance journalist over there.

I made an inquiry with Rodamoto and shipping to the US costs $120. The tires are $300 a set. You will have to buy them by the container to make it wortwhile.
Not sure what kind of interest Michelin needs in order to bring them to the US but, can't hurt for people to call and express interest in them bringing the tires here...
