Mine didn't come with a center stand so maintenance is a pain in the a$$. What do you guys use. I believe non-spooled is the way to go, but what else should I be looking for?
Here's a great link that shows most of the brands, their differences and even videos of how to use them. Cleared things up a lot for me.
http://www.ducatimonster.org/faq/faq_stand.html I jack up the side opposite the side stand a bit and put a jack stand under that side near the shock...do the same with the other side...rear is up in the air and supported on jackstands. One of these days I will spring for a swingarm stand, I think the Pitbulls are ~ $140. SportRider usually has some ads in the back for a front and rear stand for ~$90...not sure how sturdy they are though.
I use an old-style stand that lifts the rear of the bike from below the swingarm.
Modern ones use a pivoting "lift pad", but mine is pretty basic.
Look in eBay or your local "recycler"-type weekly paper. You should be able to find a used one in fine condition for well under $50.
I don't know if it's an option for the '86es, but I added spools to the rear arm of an F4 and use my spooled stand.
