Thanks for the feedback to my questions.
I did some researching last night & found several websites w/ info on tire wear. I also read some other stuff & it appears that "cupping" may in fact be a normal wear process indicating that the tires are doing their job.

Other people say that cupping is a failure of the tire.

These two sites are representative of the info I found.
From what I have read so far, it seems logical that the physics involved in motorcycle tire wear patterns would in fact cause wear patterns as indicated, depending on the type of compound and the style of riding, and the type of bike. My original stock tires (Dunlops) only have only have 2800 miles on them. They show obvious cupping. But I have pushed this bike hard in the fairly high speed curves we have here in our twisties. There is no vibration from them and they ride as smooth as the day I got the bike. There seems to be no loss of traction-yet.
Comments or feed back on your observations? Anybody have significant disagreements with these articles?
