Now, I'm needing to know where I can find a set of Plastics for the 86 VF500F? I'ld like to get a hold of a complete upper, side, and lower for it whether it be aftermarket or stock parts I don't really care. Are the plastics interchangable between models within the first gen.(ie between the 500,700, and 1000)? Also I've seen two different tail fairings on these bikes, one that looks comparable to modern tails and anther that looks like a Beaver Tail, where can I find the more modern looking one?

Only plastics that I have seen were on ebay.

yep, ebay is a great resource for parts. or if you have a bottomless pit of money you can buy them from a dealer. the fairing parts and tail come prepainted and decaled - very expensive. the front fairing for your bike is around $1200 CDN.

many of the parts are different from the 500, 750 and 1000 - tank sizes are different, etc.

Although tank size is a bit diff. will a front upper fairing from a 700 fit the 500 also what about the tail, same thing a 700 fit a 500? The front plastic is broke from bar mounted mirrors hit the windscreen.

No. Although the look is similar, the 500 and 700/750 fairings are different. THe tail is different also.

Hey hawg... its dean from MWmotorcycles... If you want next time I see ya around, we can get the bikes together and see how much modifications it might need. Also, last year, on ebay I saw alot of fairings for the bike... You might want to check out chuck crites (some name like that) he makes all the plastic for the 700/50 not sure about the 500. Or else, if all else fails, why not put the new zx14 plastic on the bike fing02.gif

If you have the original panels, and they are damaged - are they made of ABS? If so, just get a Plastex kit and repair them.
