1984 Honda VF700F for $600.. good deal?

Hey guys, this is my first post! Wow so sweet..
Anyways, I am considering buying an 84 VF700F which is for sale for $600 bucks. The guy says it has rebuilt brakes, new clutch, 40K miles, tires in good shape, and the only problem is it idles rough. It has also been repainted flat black (nothing great to look at).

What do you all think? Is this a good price? Last summer I owned a 93 CBR900RR which was a blast but this summer I am looking to get something cheap. Is this a well built bike? I heard they have problems with oil not getting to the heads and eating cams, are these true? Basically tell me anything you want too.. haha thanks guys.

at 600 most bikes are a good price. its just the condition in which its in, you have to factor the cost to restore it. at that point the cost may not be worth it. then again it may. start pricing restoration goods and youll know

Where is a good price to buy parts? I'm not looking to own a show bike here, I just want something fun to cruise in Socal in the summer!

If it has been running all these years, then it is yunlikely that it has a cam-eating problem. However, it is just as likely that the owner has acquired a kit that brings additional oit to the cam, keeping it nice and libricated.

As fas as parts go. Ron Aires is good, EBAY and some salvage places offer parts. Some salvage outfits in the UK seem quite extensive too.

I am getting my first bike, a 1985 VF500 back in shape and looking for parts takes time, but still lots out there.

the rough idle is prolly the low-speed jets.. always get clogged when they sit too long.. check the cams.. if they aren't trashed, jump on it!
