I think it is because of the rules. Mass production based parts are not allowed in MotoGP. However I believe they are going to set the displacement for MotoGP down to 800cc's. It would be sweet for Honda to release a street version of the V5. Possibly VFR1000 V5. Give it more teeth and merge the old Blackbird and Interceptor. Ha Ha Ha... Be carefull not to step in the BS. I should start shoveling. Who am I trying to fool. Wishfull thinking though :D .
Just how cool would a V-6 be guys and gals. The cost factor would be a killer I suspect but if we were willing to pay the frieght, it may be a knock out engine.

Would be happy to get a gear driven cam back with the handling of the 6th gen.

April BIKE magazine hinted at a production Honda V-5, ~ 1000cc when Moto GP goes to 800cc in 2007. This was written in the article on the NR750, worth reading.

Honda was said to be developing a V3 for the reduced MotoGP class requirement. That pretty much frees up the V5 for the XX/VFR(? :blink: ) replacement.
Funny that the area with the most interest in the V4s (VFR & V-Max) is Europe. 'wonder why?

I dunno, I've heard some stuff about that ZX14 being quite the beast. Supposedly a stock ZX14 with an average rider does low 9s in the 1/4 mile; I dunno what the V5 is really capable of. So you tell me...

V4 sales in Europe (VMax & VFR) dwarf those of the US which is why they get all the different VFR colors, etc.
Need V4 with gear driven cams 800-900cc engine displacement and 30-40 lbs lighter with color options, asphalt, red, silver, blue, yellow...

MCN mag. did an article that stock ran a 9.62 (I think) with an editor and lowered with missing tooth did low 9s with pro rider. I'm not for sure of the times being exactly on but near enough for now I guess. Someone is sure to correct if needed I hope... :offtopic:

This whole topic seems very familliar.... :P , like a bunch of topics last year.
Well, I called American Honda in Torrance, motorcycle division, to whine about my 2006 coming with a stunted too kit (chain wrench/tank holder + spanner, BOOO!!!) and he told me that since the 2005 model year, Honda has basically reduced most toolkits in North America to....virtually nothing :blink:
So I did then next logical thing, and talked about how the RC51 and VFR had gotten looooong in the tooth. He agreed that the RC51 was "suprisingly" present in the lineup for 2006, given that the 1000RR was also there. He also mentioned that two of his bosses ride VFR's....I asked point blank about anything "exciting" for the VFR and he was very cagey, as he had to be.
All he would say was that the bike has to change, he's personally expecting it to change, but that has nothing to do with what he does or does not know as an employee of American Honda :huh:

By the time fall rolls around, all of the models will probably be up for redesigns
I think this points to one thing, Hybrid V4 electric driven cams. Honda today is known for making bikes that suck gas and this way it will show the world it truely is enviromentally friendly. Of course HID head lights. Don't tell anyone.

You think we have it bad? At least we can still purchase our steeds here in the states. I also frequent a Blackbird forum and those guys can't even get a new one and they are a little :pissed:
Hopefully Honda will do something or when the time comes I will have to look elsewhere. <_<
