Don't forget your track day canopy and folding chairs! I'll pass on the bell helmets, though... I'm a cheap bastard, but spend big bucks on the lid! Oh, and I got my new battery and trickle charger there! Looks the same as a Battery Tender, and even comes with the disconnecting leads. Regular gator clips, and the mountable permanent leads.

Me too, I have placed an order for a Shoei RF1000. I just thought its a good deal for a DOT, and SNELL certified & branded helmet.
I do agree with almost all the points made by Walmart bashers. But, certain days a lot of people find themselves in tight spots, that make them look out for the best bargain out there. Today was one such penny pinching day for me.

They don't have them all the time. Keep looking. I have seen them on Ebay as well but they area about $7 for the same thing.

Did you guys catch that helmet review in Cycle World (I think, could have been Motorcyclist) a few months back where they measured impact in a bunch of different types of helmets? Long comparison short: the $79 DOT only Bell beat out the $100+ DOT/SNELL helmets for protecting your melon. This includes Shoei, Arai, etc. There was some flack after that article where a bunch of the helmet companies pulled their advertising...
Oh, and yes WalMart sucks, but it is an unavoidable evil at this time. My father-in-law won't shop at Target because of their French ties or some such thing...that and they wouldn't let their employees say "Merry Christmas" I think, but he has no problems shopping at WalMart and contributing to the downfall of small business.
My across-the-street neighbor is a Wal-Mart manager. He drives a 10 year old Lincoln Mark VIII with a faux convertible top that I believe he bought at Wal-Mart using his employee discount.

I was thinking the same thing. When you shell out $400 for a lid, your paying for lightness AND the ability to pass the tests, thats all. The cheaper the helmet the heavier they are. Thats about all the difference oh and cool paint jobs.
The high dollar lids are supposed to be quieter, but I have heard otherwise from a lot of owners.
I buy right in the middle, where the lid is lighter than the cheapies, but not as expensive as the high enders.
Oh yeah, and Wal Mart is the devil, but they save me money on cheap crap made in China, so I go there for disposable crap and groceries. When I want something worth keeping more than a week, I go elsewhere.
Wal-Mart is a great place to shop for crap that you won't be using in a year and also a great place to shop if you want to run every family business out of America. Personally I'm not buying my helmets at Wal-Mart. I'm going to create a stereotype here and say that people who buy their helmets at WallyWorld wear shorts and sandals when they ride. I think if you spend $10K on your bike you can spend $300 on a decent helmet. 10 years ago there was a bigger difference between a $500 Arai and a $200 Bell. The trickle-down of technology has blurred the lines. My HJC AC-12 is a better helmet than my last (10 year old) Arai Signet. However, I'd be leery of a $100 helmet from anywhere. ($100 head...)

I don't like Wal-Mart's biz practices, but I still shop there b/c they have the things I need at good prices. I like Target's upscale selection better, but Wally World has them beat for cheap stuff. Esp. cheap stuff you can't get elsewhere or at double the price at the chain drug store, chain grocery store, etc. I still shop small non-chain stores, too, but not as often.
BTW, I wouldn't buy a cheap Bell lid at Wal-mart for myself, but it wouldn't be a bad buy for my kids who are just going to grow out of them in a year or two anyway. Personally, I'm hoping to upgrade from my HJC AC-11 to a Shoei, Icon or carbon shell AC-12 over the off-season.

Something is certainly wrong with that. remmber WalMart has forced its supliers, to move Jobs from the USA to China, and when you spend money there, you are telling your out of work neighbor, who lost his job to outsourcing, that you don't care about him.
