Got off the phone with streetfighterbydesign today. Here are the details.
Fiberglass rear hugger = $140 **** Specify which color
Carbon Rear hugger = $230
shipping = $15 flat
To order, call him (David) at 772-597-3207 between 11am - 5pm. Mention that you are calling for the VFR group buy. He will need the following information.
1) What year/model bike
2) Which hugger (fiberglass / CF)
3) Shipping address
4) Credit card info
He does not have any in stock and will special order the huggers from the OEM. That means that shipping will be slow, as they have to come from England. He will place the order for the parts every 5 or 6 buyers. He will not charge your card until he places that order. Then he will wait for the next batch of orders. Once the order is placed, you cannot cancel.
Shipping is a flat $15. He can ship two per box if you want to reduce the price a few bucks that way, but make sure he understands that when you order.
DEADLINE IS JUNE 6TH. After that, it is regular price. He will place the final order for huggers that day, regardless of how many orders he has queued.

In fact on the flight back, Delta made me take my leather pants from my suitcase since I was 3 pounds over the weight limit and would have charged me like $75. So I carried my helmet and leather pants, wearing my leather jacket while boarding. Thanks Delta for the great service. Rules are rules eh?
First...Thanks to Yoshi! I have been looking at getting a hugger for a long time but they were too expensive until now.
I placed the order today and am on the list for a black one. They have generic colors but are not color matched so buyer beware. Also, I plan on lightly sanding off the gloss and making it a matte finish to better blend with my bike.
That's the Pyramid hugger. They don't have the Skidmarx hugger on their web site. Here is a link to someone else that put a Skidmarx hugger on a 5th gen.

So by carrying your leathers and helmet into the plane, instead of them being in the cargo bay, how did this make the plane lighter, and therefore more fuel efficient???? (yes I know, I'm being facetious)

Pretty sure it should be 1 piece, unless there is some extra mounting or support bit. Pics always help, even thogh only have a vague idea what they're supposed to look like.
I figured it would be about 3 wks shipping overseas plus a few days. So if you were among the first to order you should be getting yours in soon if you haven't already.

The quality appears good, but riding time will tell. The finish is nice. One mounting hole was slightly off, but not enough to have to modify. The fiberglass is flexible enough to get the tire in and out without issue.

I tried the install with the wheel on, but quickly removed it. Much easier with it off and, lets face it, removing the rear wheel on a single sided swingarm is a no brainer.

The "Hugger" and the chain guard are two separate pieces. The chain guard is placed first and the "Hugger" bolts on top of the chain guard.

The quality appears good, but riding time will tell. The finish is nice. One mounting hole was slightly off, but not enough to have to modify. The fiberglass is flexible enough to get the tire in and out without issuse.

Thanks. I just put the wheels back on after replacing the tires. No biggies to remove the rear again. I was just curious if it was really necessary to remove the wheel.
Got mine today. Looks nice. Will install tomorrow. Gonna try to give the vendor some more business. Important to reward those willing the group buy vendors.
Got mine last Thursday but I haven't had a chance to do anything besides give it a cursory inspection. I'm also debating painting it the correct red (I bought a black one) before putting it on or saving the painting for a winter project.

Allow me to interject at this point; the two inside anchor points of the chainguard (that are plastic screw rivets,oem) are replaced by two rubber sleeves with embedded nuts. Small hex bolts are used to hold the new inside guard and center mount of the new steel fender bracket to hold the mid-pipe side of the hugger.
Do yourself a favor and get some steel threaded sleeves to set in the swingarm to anchor the guard down. The rubber ones pull up and tweak the hugger aliment.
(too much vibration and movement)
That and I'll figure another weld point or tap and set point of mid-pipe side bracket to anchor that side of the hugger to properly..
Forgive the crappy cameraphone pics. install was fairly cut-n-dry.. had to tweak the metal bracket a little to get it to center on wheel, but that was the worst of it.

I don't think a 180 should be an issue. I WILL be finding out at some point... I don't care if it's a 3rd or a 5th gen... I'm tired of that weird tire size and the hassles involved whenever I get new skins.

I'd hate to have to cut down on a brand new hugger to fit the 180 on the project, so hopefully it will fit. And hopefully I get around to that as soon as I get our saw back online at work.
The 170 size was awesome when they were selling that size super cheap to get rid of them. Bought a set of Pirelli Rosso's for $150 shipped. Should have bought two or three sets.

Received mine yesterday. The chain guard piece has quite a few scratches, imperfections and dull spots in the finish. In the long run I guess it will not matter but I am type A. The actual hugger that no one will see is perfect.

It seems it does not. I went for a short ride and it seems the hugger did not like the heat of the pipe. I can't really see the damage but I will remove it to see if I can slide it a little to the left and put some heat tape. Hope that does it.
I installed mine tonight and I'm a little disappointed in the finish. Edges are rough, couple blemishes on the chain guard, and one of the epoxied nuts had dirty and almost crossed threads.
I did as best I could to adjust the hugger portion to be centered and symmetrical to the tire but the left side (looking from the back of bike) is almost 3/4" higher off the tire than the right side. It's like the hugger wasn't formed correctly. The silver bracket might have to come off and be bent upwards to raise the right side- I don't know.
It's a small issue but I'm not thrilled with using a cable tie to fasten the back portion of the two brake lines to the one clamp. Why wouldn't they include a proper clamp?
It's a lot better quality than the Power bronze I removed - but its not like the NWS cf hugger such as what's on grond1234s bike. That hugger is the best one I've seen. Wish they hadn't sold out!
I have about 1/4" clearance between the up pipe of the Leo Vince pipes and the hugger so I'll have to watch how the heat affects it. Won't be riding it until next week sometime.

Did they provide a cable tie in the pack for that? Mine came with two double clamps. Ironically, I don't need doubles, as I have only a single line to the rear now that I unlinked it...

Yes - they provide one stainless steel "double" clamp that I used at the front of the chain guard - but the back is cinched down with one "p" clamp, and a cable tie. They actually provide 4 cable ties.... Kevin - I'd be thrilled if you'd float that extra double clamp up my way sometime! I could use it.
I'm certain - that my hugger and chainguard didn't so much as get looked at before it left their operation. the edges are not clean, they actually are very rough. I think this set came off the molds, and was placed right into the packaging material.
Perhaps once I figure out how to make the install adjustments, and get the thing looking proper I'll be more content - but as it sits - I'm not recommending this product to others.
Sorry to hear about low quality/finish on yours.
My hugger looks pretty good on the edges. As I recall, once installed and looking at it from the back of the bike, it follows the circumference of the tire.
overall finish was good.
I have less than 1/4 inch clearance to the exhaust and that is what I need to fix somehow.
I got some heat tape to see if that does it.
I did not like to use ties to secure the cables but oh well.
I suggest you email the seller and see if you get an exchange. looks like QA was sleeping when some units came out of production. :)
There is no earthly reason why any product you pay good money for shouldn't be properly designed, properly constructed, properly finished, and properly fitted with all the fasteners necessary to install it.
The only problem I had with installing mine (5th gen, black fiberglas) was that the holes in to mount the hugger to the chain gaurd didn't quite match. Like they were off maybe 1/32" which is acceptable to me. I got it together without any issue and it looks great. Definately going to painting it to match this winter though.
I removed the hugger today to inspect if there was damage from the short ride. None visible.
I still proceeded to add heat tape to the hugger.
Going for a ride this weekend to test.
Hugger finish was fine btw. no rough cuts.
