Hopefully this doesn't come across as too silly a question..

Will the drop blocks fit the Pillion Pegs..??
(The partner has Ducks disease and has so much grief climbing off the bike..)

I'd ship to Oz but unfortunately the Peg Blocks do not fit pillion pegs or perch...

Larry,

Love my blocks, Thanks. In your first post you stated you are making these by hand or one at a time now. Does that allow you to custom make them for pillion blocks, or earlier Gens?

Not trying to cause problems....the pictures show they are close to fitting for the passenger location. A little Grinding and some washers, spacer?

Like I said love my lowered pegs.

Hiya Vince... I could produce a pillion peg block but first I would need both a 5th and a 6th gen to do it
right... but right now my R&D time is spent finalizing my RC30 crash donut design...

Hey Larry, here's a new application: '85 VF1000R:

http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o124/capnspif/VF1000R/IMG_6906Medium.jpg

The perches are from the 5th gen, the VF's are just slightly too thick.

Saving my knees, thanks! :fing02:

Whoa nice mod... and I think you are the first to do so... come visit on the 1000 Motor of Death...

Very nice looking set, I don't need them as I'm fairly short: 5'7" but it sure looks they are well made.
#9
If you ever get the time to make them for the pillion pegs, im going to buy a set also.
#10
To Larry @ BLS - thanks for making these so well and having them available for us. I'm Finally able to be back into the saddle again, and being 6'1"+, I've looked at these for a while with Great interest.

I seemed to notice on closer inspection (and thanks also for the fine pic's that allow for those views) that when mounted, the lowered pegs are actually a bit further "outboard" of their original locations. Is this correct, or just due to the photos? Any input from owners and/or Larry would be gratefully received.

In addition, a number of owners have been kind enough to mention the potential loss of cornering/laydown room. Would some of you be kind enough to post input on that also, please, especially if you've had them for a seaon or two with longer term experience?

This well engineered mod seems to work very well for those who have gotten it installed. I would appreciate your input here as to whether they're likely to work for me, too.

Thanks very much, and will look forward to your input. :wheel:

Thanks Makman...

The Peg Blocks are designed to position the foot peg no further out than stock...

I think the VFRD owners will agree... the distant lost in cornering clearance is equal to the lenght of
the stock peg feeler Honda designed in the bottom of the foot peg... you have the option of removing
the peg feeler...

I look forward to your next production run. As we've PM'ed, put me down for a set.

During a long ride I often have to extend my legs to pop my knees, I wish I could use these. However I am constantly scraping my boots as it is cause I tend to flat foot it when I am just riding around, I would probably be scrapeing all the time with a lowered peg. I start thinking about it and get my foot up higher and onto the balls of my feet when I really start riding hard. I always scrape my boot first though.
#15
Question, can this thing be flipped around and become peg raising blocks instead??
Could be a simple and cost effective alternative to expensive rearsets for those who want to go the other way.
TIA,

Beck

Nope... the Peg Block will not work flipped around... but my billet rear sets do offer more corner
clearance... but they are hand made and pricey at $550 a set...

Miguel, I found I was scraping my boots more with Larry's blocks, and I have since trained myself to pop my toes up onto the footpegs when I am cornering even semi-aggressively.

Works fine, once you make the initial adjustment in your riding style.

I also took off my peg feelers and replaced them with the appropriate thread allen head bolt, which I shortened so that it screws all the way into the footpeg, and only the head of the bolt sticks down out of the peg bottom. That way, the pegs aren't dragging early.

Will the peg lowering blocks fit other Honda sportbikes?

I ride a CBR 600 F4i.

Wild Hair sells lowering blocks that fit all Hondas except a few early VFRs but they have an offset that places the brake pedal inside the normal inclination of my right foot. Not good.

Thanks.

Sandy
#19
These appear to have an offset as well, and also oriented a tad bit back? I have wondered if lower pegs would rotate me farther forward, putting more strain on my back and arms,
#20
miguel, i have ankle issues and therefore, ride flat footed to remove the strain. as the pegs are lower, it is very easy to simply pull the foot on the inside of the turn onto the ball to avoid scraping. i have had these for close to two years and all i can say is they make the difference between riding regular and selling the bike...try em!!

as far as scraping....you just have to move your weight around a little more and remove the hero blobs as mentioned.

tightwad, the lowered pegs actually make you sit up more as far as i can tell.

shipping back to me if you don't like them...

HS, you know how I ride and I use lowered pegs!
Not Larry's but Buell pegs which ride about the same height, don't think I've ever hit them. Well maybe a few times during extreme :goofy: 'lyness. But on every day 400 mile ripper loops, never.
Knee's feel better too!
#24
Have you started working on them for the 7th Gen yet? :fing02:
#25

Will you be making peg lowering blocks for the VFR1200?

Yes... first I'll test my Peg Blocks to see if they fit the 7th Gen... if they don't then I will tackle a new design...
#26
Larry you'll be happy to know that your peg blocks came through 100% unscathed in my recent game of Rock/Paper/Scissors with a Honda Accord. :fing02:

Both OEM rootpeg hangar brackets were bent/snapped, but your peg block is still perfect. I'll be reusing them when I rebuild the bike. :goofy:
#27
Are there any still available?
#28
I'm interested too. I'm 6'4". Long rides get a little cramped sometimes.
#29
Are these still available? I would like a set of these, PLEASE!!!!

Got my blocks from Larry last week and installed them...fit is perfect, the quality of the machine work is impeccable. My only issue is getting the brake pedal low enough, which I haven't been able to do yet.

Great product!

How have you come with getting your brake pedal low enough for you.... I know it's been a half month since you posted this but I'm getting a set, and was wondering?

That having been said, I'm not sure at this point if I'll want to adjust my pedal to the same ratio as it is now, because I've changed my footing to ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs, and my toe doesn't hover over the pedal any more. I have to move my foot to get to the pedal, so having it at a higher ratio might be more of an advantage. I'll have to wait till I get the blocks then play with it. I know how to adjust both the brake light and pedal, I just don't know at this point what the max limits are on the adjustment, so hence the question to you....Thx
#39
Need to remove the jam nut from the threaded brake rod to get enough adjustment. At least that was my experience.

Larry - just got mine - seems like in a blink. They are beautifully made. Thanks for making them available.

My lowering blocks came in at 11:30 this morning (a lot sooner than expected, thx)... So I installed them and went for a ride today.... Interestingly enough, an inch and a half makes a lot of difference (for you guys that haven't tryed 'em yet). Yea, I was telling my Sister " I couldn't believe how a inch and a half more could make a diff ' and she said it sure does.... So anyway I found myself more planted on the bike, and yet able to unweight the seat more easily.... Also to a mild degree it effects my upper body to a slightly more upright position, which is a positive change as well..... Now for me, I guessing since everyones foot is diff ' , it turns out that when adjusting the shifter arm I had to move it one click lower... and that put it where I've wanted it since I've had the bike.... with the stock mount my "g" spot was between the click, but now it's perfect fit for up/down shifting........ Needless to say they are well worth getting......... I've reached the limit of adjustment for the rear brake pedal (the rod is up against the pivot point of the brake arm, even though I don't want it as low as it was (relatively to the stock set up) , I still need to lower it some more (it's a little to easy to grab to much foot brake because when I go for it I'm not resting my boot on the peg the way I want, so it can be a little less precise at this point). So I'm thinking I'll take the whole peg-set loose from the bike and undo the bottom so I can cut or grind the end off the adjustment piston rod. That will give me more space to turn the thing down some more......... Thx again for making these for us.... And the timely delivery.............
#43
Monk, I heated and put a double bend in my brake lever to get it where I wanted it. I did this while it was still on the bike. I rarely use the rear brake, but when I do it's easy to reach now.

Thanks... I'll keep that in mind..... 'course I'll have to buy a blow torch........(which I should have any way)

You're welcome John... thank you for eloquent write up... I think the best solution to reach the range of adjustment on the brake lever is cutting the shaft down 1/4 of an inch...

Hiya Leland... I sent Miguel a set of my Peg Blocks and he confirmed they will *not* work on the 7th gen... so its going to be a new design... so far no 1200 have ventured near the BLS... as soon as one does I'll have a Peg Lowering solution...

I've finalized RC30 sliders and will send you a set for 250.00 + 4.95 shipping...

Thx for the info on brake adjustment..... Maybe someone on here that lives near you could bring their 1200 VFR by so you can take some measurements?
Any volunteers?

I'm loving the pegs already and I just installed them today. They shipped on Monday from Cali and I got them in Florida in three days. Awesome service! If i saw a corner here in florida I would not know what to do, so I think I will be fine with them lowered.

Just a reminder... From what I've heard, the clearance is the same if you were to take the feelers off the pegs.... But I haven't scrapped them either..........
#51
It really is amazing what an inch here or and inch there will do for the comfort of the bike! With these installed and the Helibars in place the bike is waaaaay more comfortable. About a week after I installed the Helis and lowering blocks I put a set of these on the tank - [image: Posted Image] and another huge difference. It's so nice to have something other than a slick tank to grab with my knees. I can better support myself, no nut-busting on the tank or pressure on the bars under hard braking, my seating position is just a touch further back which is more comfortable, and I'm not scratching the heck out of my tank anymore.

Don't believe I've scraped mine either (I'll have to look), but I've had the bike way over many times, and I don't have any chicken strips, so that's good enough for me. I have scraped the sides of my boots many times, though. Feet too big?

Not to :beatdeadhorse:
but how much do these lower the pegs

I measured 1.5 inches when I did mine.

Remove your footpeg feelers and replace with a short Allen head bolt screwed in flush with the peg.

Can't say enough good things about these. They're superbly engineered, install easily, and make a HUGE difference! I had mine on for a few years and have since removed them to optimize ground clearance at the track, but these things are so well-built I'm gonna hold on to them for when the VFR is retired to light touring duty.

Great stuff!

lower Honda's foot peg 1.5 inches (38mm) from the stock position...
they are anodized to match the silver on the stock Honda parts...

USA Peg Blocks $85.00 + shipping $5.50 = $90.50

Canada Peg Blocks $85.00 + shipping $12.00 = $97.00

Europe Peg Blocks $85.00 + shipping $14.00 = $99.00

Not to detract from BLS's buisness here, but if you're in that big of a hurry I just saw some Thurn Motorsports lowering blocks listed on fleabay for the 1200.

I have a couple of designs in the works but so far no 7th Gen VFR has visited the Shop... maybe an owner is near
enough to the Sacramento area and has time to offer their bike for testing 7th Gen Peg Blocks protoypes...

BLS,
Did you ever do any rear / passenger peg lowering kits for the 6th Gen? I have a pair installed and LOVE them. I know my wife would appreciate a set on the passenger pegs.....

He's off the air.......... I'm pretty sure they don't fit the passenger peg, and that he hasn't made any that do........... Just from what I've read?

How long will Larry be off the air? I just sent him some cash for a set. Any idea when he will ship?

The only reason I know if he is logged or not is by checking the list of ppl that are on here at any given time, which you can find by clicking on the forum page or the title (front) page.

Thank you, Monk. I knew this bit but I thought you had some additional information about Larry being on vacation or something.

I'll wait for a response from him.
#73
Thanks Monk..
Allow me to use this opportunity to explain to any prospective buyer that even if I'm on vacation I still ship Peg Blocks the same day I receive payment...
#74
BLS... I see a lot of random questions on what VFR's do you make them for at this time.
IE; The 1200; and 5/6gen; and any for the passenger pegs????

Thanks for asking Monk...
Peg Blocks are only engineered to fit 5th Generation VFR (98 to 01) and 6th generation VTEC
VFR (02 on up)... they will not engineered to fit 4th Gen VFR750 (93 to 97) or passenger pegs...

I hope someone brings me their VFR1200 to the shop so I may finish engineering BLS 7th Gen Peg Blocks...
#76
With a little machining they could fit the passenger pegs. These are the BLS pegs shown against the 5G passenger peg mount.

You're welcome...

And my uber sexy paperweights arrived in 8 days at my home in Toronto, Canada! No taxes, duties or rif raffs!

These will be on my bike for the Friday the 13th ride down to Port Dover.

Double thank you, BLS!
#80
Hey guys;

I really hope somone in the area can bring a VFR1200 over to BLS... I am waiting patiently for a set (as I am sure a few others are as well!)

I look forward to dealing with you once those 7th Gen ones are ready!

Cheers;
Eric

It's amazing what that little drop in peg height does! Makes a huge difference in your knees and back. I installed mine two days ago. Something I should have done years ago. I haven't tested them while riding aggressively, I will get my chance next friday. Overall I am very pleased with these. Thanks BLS! Great product
#82
I removed the stock peg feelers and replaced them with Allen head bolts which I had shortened the threads on so that they screw in right flush into the footpegs.

They sit about the same height as stock pegs with the long feelers.
#83
Spent the day riding to clinical site visiting students. The peg lowering blocks are the best modification you can make!!! My knee feels great. Thanks!!
#84
The only problem in the twisty bits is if you get lazy and don't keep your feet on top of the pegs...you will crunch them when you lean if you don't.
#87
I wish I was in BLS's neighborhood as I could really use these for the 7th gen.  Plus, I wouldn't mind checking out his garage :)
#88
RE: 7th Gen blocks... tell me about it! I really want a set of these too and have been holding out, hoping that someone would bring a bike by his shop... or some other alternative way for him to get them done would crop up...

Cheers;
Eric

I was out riding last week for the tmac and got a message from Larry that he cant post here, something technical that is not on my end of the site but he asked me in an email to pass along his email if somebody is interested in the peg lowering blocks and need to contact him

Can someone confirm if the BLS blocks move the pegs rearward any distance?

Thanks Miguel for posting in my absence but I'm back after fixing my problem...

Not rearward... Peg Blocks are designed to effectively lower Honda's foot peg 1.5 inches (38mm)
vertically from the stock position...

If you are thinking about a set JUST DO IT. Best thing I have ever done for my knee. BTW very fast response. Ordered on a Friday and arrived on Monday.

I was having severe knee pain on the tmac trip, riding rather hard this time around I put alot of stress on the knees in the tight stuff.  Gonna have to do something about the knee situation soon.  Too bad I am 4 states away the veefalo would be parked in your garage tonight if I was near enough!
#94
I agree Miguel! If I wasn't even further away (in Canada) I would have my 7th Gen there as well!! I am getting desperate to solve my peg problem...

Thanks to BLS for the lowering pegs! They were simple to install, look like stock and make my bike more comfortable. The hardest challenge was adjusting the rear brake pedal but all is well now.

Now the only thing on my mod list is a hugger coming through a group buy. I need to look for more mods!
#96
Any news on a passenger version of these?
#97
Maybe a group of you 7th genners could put together a package to persuade Larry to drop by a stealership with his calipers?
#98
Are they still available?

Sorry but the minimum order at the CNC Shop is 100 sets or 200 pieces... there just ain't enough orders to cover a version to fit the passenger peg...
#101
Payment sent.

Thanks... Dan
#102
I still love my peg-lowering brackets! You will, too.
#103
I didn't realize how badly I needed these until I installed them. They're a lifesaver (maybe legsaver is a better term) on long rides - especially if you are taller.
#104
Larry, I installed your blocks today and took a ride. I absolutely LOVE them!!! It's a whole new bike.
I'm 6'1" with bad knees. After my ride with the lowered pegs I fell in love with my bike all over again.
I can't thank you enough for offering these.
#105
Make sure your rear brake is adjusted correctly, not dragging, and the brake light is operating properly. Some others have had some hitches with these.

PS: still enjoying mine! 5 years and counting!

I didn't move the rear brake pedal yet. I usually just down shift and use the front brakes, unless it's a quick/emergency stop that is.... I may just leave it where it is?
I lowered the shifter on notch, and may go one more. Thanks for the heads up.
#107
Just (re-)installed these today on my '85 1KR, work great. :fing02:
