Anyone see the rumor on Soup that Rossi told Ferrari that he would not be joining them in '07. Understandable if it is true, I can't imagine he would want to end a brilliant run in MotoGP with the awaful luck he has had so far this season????? On the other hand, if anyone could pull it off, it would be Rossi wheel.gif

My money is still on Rossi for the title, though. Even if Pedrosa had been running tyres to go the distance, Rossi was obviously going for the win.

I also saw the blurb on "Soup" about Rossi not leaving GP next year. I had seen that he had said that he was interested in developing and riding the 800's next year.
Did you hear Rossi wanking about bad passes by Millandri? Turnabout IS fair play. I will say it again, Dani is going to win it all. Stoner is good, but not ready yet (too inconsistant for now). Nicky will probably get second or third I predict. The doctor is out of it. Way too many points to make up on that Yamadog IMO. No one can argue that the racing this year is great. wheel.gif
I believe Hayden was ill - had the flu the whole weekend. So a 5th is pretty damn good. The ride of the day was Edwards however. From dead last due to the first corner melee up to 6th. Very nice, and proves that the Yamahas are headed in the right direction.
I still don't think Valentino is out of it. It's not like he hasn't been fast. There's only 5 races gone. The last couple years he's won it going away with at least 3 races left in the season. Too early to call him out.

I watched that over and over again. He went though the inside of the corner a bit hot, which took him right across the track to the ripple strip, giving anyone (i.e., De Puniet( who was taking the outside line absolutely nowhere to go. It looked as though he hit DePuniet's front wheel with his rear wheel, but after replaying it, I'm not sure he did. It worked for Rossi, and as no-one lodged a protest, it was obviously viewed as a 'racing incident', but it was a little reckless in some ways.
Interestingly, all three of the podiumites (podium people?) said the same thing: once they'd seen Rossi was out, they knew they had a chance, so they went for it. He really has the other riders psyched out. I think too that him racing to the front in the warmup lap, then standing up on the pegs and doing his habitual "de-wedgie" manouevre laugh.gif helped gain a psychological advantage.
I'd really like to see Rossi get a few wins, so that the season draws to a finale with no out-and-out favourite. Given the size of his lead last year, and the lead he pulled out in France, I'm sure he can do it.
Rossi is far from out of the championship hunt. Nicky is still impressive on a consistent basis partly due to the Repsol Hondas. Quite a few others look very good as well (Capirossi, Melandri, Stoner and Pedrosa). It's shaping up to be an exciting year for sure!
It wasn't Rossi's fault. He kept an inside line and Pedrosa tried to take the corner as if nobody was there and dove down on Rossi. Rossi tried to evade and there may have even been contact. The evasion took him to the outside where he smacked the French dude.
The ride of the day definately was Edwards, like mentioned above, Colin went from last to 6th. Nicky was definately battling the flu most of the week or he would probably had the 3rd slot on the podium. Rossi and Edwards were smart to go back last year's chassis geometry.
I want Nicky to win, but I'm pretty happy with all the front runners. They all seem to be good guys. We need some Biaggi personalities to root against. tongue.gif
I think it will be Ducati vs Stoner and Nakano, who set the fastest trap speeds at Le Mans (Mugello has a straight which allows the bikes to max out, and a few good climbs where the Ducs will be strong). The Yamahas and Suzukis will make time up in the corners though, so as usual, impossible to predict beer.gif

Edwards was not on the new chassis (last years flex) that Rossi had. He used it during testing on Monday and was faster than Rossi. He will have the new chassis next race.
Great racing. I watched the whole meeting at work on the PC (dont tell the bosses) on the Moto GP web site. Very good quality picture. That was worth the joining fee alone. I also watched the Qualifying on Saturday, all with comentry in English.
Moto GP is shaping up to be one heck of an exciting year! I would love to see Hayden win it all, but it will be tough for him. Pedrosa is no joke and I will stick my neck out to say that I believe he could win it all this year. He definately has a power to weight advantage over the rest of the field......he is tiny!! I noticed in the last race that he can't put both feet on the ground when stopped. Don't count Rossi out. He still stands a good chance of winning the championship. I watched him pick off two riders in two close, consecutive corners like they were pylons.
The field is full of great riders and it's going to be great fun to watch it all unfold.
Still 12 races left .. Rossi's new chassis is working well, and next race will see the gremlins out of the bike ... Win for Rossi next race, Edwards in top 5
Failure was electrical or something but it was due to engineers rushing to build new bike in a day and half
In some ways it is typical of the luckiest guy in Moto GP to have all of his bad luck in one season .........
Gonna be close between Rossi and Dani Pedrosa though ... Casey Stoner is gonna suffer cash problems soon ( no title sponsors ...)

Yeah, it's an Aussie curse but a delayed one. I swear for the last two years I was sooo tired of Rossi spanking everyone and wanted him to have to fight for it. Well, I guess that happened.
If Rossi can win the title from this far back it will add greatly to his legend. I think this is going to really motivate him for the remainder of the season. This last race he was brutal while charging through the field (ask du Puniet) then clinical in dealing with Pedrosa. It must have been difficult for him to really motivate himself when he was cantering to a win each race last 2 years but now, I suspect, he is going to be really fired up. I think he is going to pull off something to add to his legend. Then another season with the revised engine spec - but which manufacturer?
