Colorado / Black Canyon Riders!

So my family and I were out in Colorado for our annual charity ride (The Colorado 500) this past week. My mom couldn't ride this year so she was our support vehicle. Well, my brother put his Givi bags in the back of the pickup and since we had our Beta trials bike in there too, the tailgate was kept down. Well, the bags made it to the top of Black Canyon, but then one of them slid out on the way down. So, we know that it is somewhere between the top of the canyon and Hotchkiss. We have already written off the bag, but would be interesting to see if it could ever turn up and find its way home.

The week of riding was spectacular and each year I find myself closer and closer to moving to the beautiful state of Colorado. Keep the shiny sides up and have fun out there.


p.s. For those of you that live there, YES I was part of the group where a guy went over the edge on Black Canyon. He and his wife are perfectly fine, but their loaner bike had to be shot.

Another flatlander rode off the mountain? Last year one rode into the Cache LaPoudre River and they did not find her till a year later! Gotta slow down if your not used to these roads!

I'm not sure where the guy was from...... I guess it does sound a little like he was part of my family or something. There were 100 (ish) bikes on this ride, from all around the US.

You are TOTALLY correct, however. I have done this ride for the past 8 years, and have ridden Black Canyon plenty of times, myself. Gotta be careful, though. They went about 30 feet before grabbing onto trees, the bike made it about 300 feet, a tow truck pulled it ot the next day. The bike is at the Davis (?) Dealer in Montrose.
