Fifth Annual Creede Ride

Its that time again two months later than usual to make the annual pilgramige to Creede, Slumgullion Pass, Lake City, Monarch Pass, Poncha Pass, and fly along Spring Creek Pass from Creede. I usually do this as the first big ride of the season but this year we are trying late July, Slumgullion Pass should be great! We ride past The Alfred Packer massecure site and then along the south fork of the Gunnison, thats always fun riding too.

DAY & TIME

Sunday July 23rd, leaving Colorado Springs 9:00am

@ Big Bear Coffie House hwy 115 and South Academy ( conjuction hwy 115 & hwy 83 at the Safeway shoping center south end of C Springs near Fort Carson Army Base)

Stopping in Poncha Springs for Gas at the station on the far south side of the springs, on hwy 285 around 11am if anybody wants to meet there from where ever?

Looping clockwise to Delnort over Poncha Pass and Southfork, into Creede, over Slumgullion, and back hwy 50 over Monarch Pass and home. Its a long ride usually 10 hours with all the stops 500 miles, at around 50mph average with stops and such nonsense. Its always a great ride and a good time with riding buddies, come join us!

I read it...my Yamaha is down for the count at the moment...good news VFR piggy bank is getting full.

I read it also...but timing always seems to be an issue. I leave for the east coast on the 23...Pacific ocean last summer and Atlantic ocean this summer.

Hope to be somewhere in Missouri Sunday night.

I may be down for going. The ride sounds great, but I would probably not finish in the springs, but come straight to denver. I'll have to verify the roundtrip mileage, because I wouldn't want to go over 500/trip. I'll keep you informed!

Yes your right its MotoGP day and there is a big Motocross race going on in Denver too at Thunder Valley - Hey thats what VCR's are for, and TIVO if your all techno! Get home drink a beer and watch the race at Laguna Seca on the tube on your own terms. If you opt out of the ride thats alright.

I confirm 4 of us going so far so its a nice cozy group as of now. Its a lot of miles for sure but once in a while you got to stretch out and pursue the sport touring lifestyle. I will tell you that its one hell of a great ride so come ready for the whole day and bring rain gear just in case and your camera whatever odds and ends you might need for a day trip.

Craig and I have done this route every year for the past five years. It was actually the first ride we ever did together after we met on the road and become riding buddies. Then each year after that we invited a guy here and there and its become a yearly tradition for us. Tommy Knockers bar for lunch too is our annual stop mid day.

There are two riders going to meet up with us at Texas Creek, which is about 45 min to an hour ride from the springs on the way to Pagosa springs, Its along the arkansas - the litte diner at the cross roads to Westcliff.
