I've been wanting a Puig windscreen and found this sale today on www.motomummy.com for $70 shipped. The site didn't list the windscreen for a VFR, only GSXR, CBR etc. I emailed the guy (Corey) and he promptly responded that he would add the VFR to the listing in 5 minutes - and he did. If the rest of his service is like that then he just got a new loyal customer.

I'll keep everyone posted on how the transaction goes.

Hmm, that's not a bad deal. Retail is $76.99 plus whatever shipping would be. Thanks for the heads up!

I paid $130 shipped for my POS MRA screen, that's a great deal.

Give us a follow up on how the fitting goes.

Fitting and finnish are great, I love mine and paid $65 +shipping about a year ago, right before their prices went up. Now $70 is a sweet deal.

I just received an email that my screen is on its way. Corey emailed me last week that Puig didn't have any light smoke in stock, so I chose to get a dark smoke instead. It delayed my order a few days, but it's on the way now. Can't wait!

Moved to bargain finder.

Thanks, Mr. Moderator. I wasn't aware of the bargain finder forum. I'll look around a bit better before posting next time. smile.gif

Well, my new windscreen arrived on Friday, exactly two weeks after I ordered it. That was a little longer than I wanted to wait, but the price was right and I'm happy with the transaction. Motomummy.com still has them on sale for $70 shipped, so anyone interested should jump on it now. I don't know when the sale ends.

Happy shopping.

Thanks for the head's up...Does Puig make them for a 5th gen? He only lists 6th gen available. I will ping him and ask...let us know how you like it.

If you check out his site, take a look at the "About us" page and hit the thread that started it all...pretty funny stuff.

not to get OT, but you don't like the MRA? I was thinking of getting one...

I put it on this afternoon. Man, it think it looks awesome. I'm so glad I didn't get the light smoke, because the dark goes well with the dark carbon fiber tank protector I have. The fit was a bit snug, so I had to coax it in the slots with a few judicious smacks on top with my hand, but it slid right in and fits fine. They even included a strip of plastic edging to go along the top. Very nice. I went for a short ride because I didn't have a whole lot of time, but so far I like it a lot. fing02.gif I'll give a report, maybe next week, after riding to work a few times.

Yes they make one for the 5th gen. I ordered through eBay and paid a bit more (~$85 shipped). I put it on yesterday...a bit disappointed with the fit on the nose. I haven't ridden with it yet.

I ordered one from Ebay Sept.1, still don't have it. I would like to see a pic.

I can't believe you've had to wait this long. Two weeks was hard enough for me. Here are some pics to get you through. The weather is crappy here today, but I pulled the viffer out of the shed to snap a couple.

I may as well give my report while I'm posting. What this windscreen does is dramatically smooth the airflow so I don't get as much noise and buffeting. I can't say it really makes much of a difference in where the wind hits me, but there is a larger bubble of calm over the tank than with the stock screen. It seems like the wind hits just below my helmet, maybe just a bit higher than before, but it's moving in a downward direction instead of hitting me straight on. It's just a lot smoother now. Two thumbs up fing02.gif fing02.gif

Nice review, great pictures for demonstration...

Can anyone share pictures of the light smoke?

I read the about us on Motomummy and the linked thread, and I have to say I was worried for you. Now I may become a motomummy customer...

I sent a note about the 5th gen shields yesterday. Hopefully he will add those to his web site as well.

Thanks for worrying about me, Crazy. It's nice to know somebody cares. goofy.gif I must admit that I was a bit worried too, but it was actually a decent transaction. There was a phone number to call, but I just used email to communicate with him and it worked out fine. Now I'm drooling over the Pazzo levers.

Man, that really sucks. I've been looking around and not many places list the 5th gen, or VFRs for that matter. It looks like Cycle Gear has them and this ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/SUM-OF-ALL-PARTS-STORE

Both places are a little more expensive, but at least they have 'em. unsure.gif

I tried a ZG double bubble & returned it. The main problem was that there were slots rather than holes for mounting & the screen was very thin compared to the stock screen. How is the Puig in these areas.

The Puig is very sturdy. It has holes at the top for the screws. I highly recommend it.

I got my light smoke yesterday, FINALLY!
It fits nice and looks good, I will try to post a pic soon. The only thing I noticed so far is there is a fair bit of distortion looking through the screen in the crouch possition. I have not ridden with it yet.
I prefer the dark smoke for looks but I can't imagine you could see through it very well in the crouch especially at night. That's when I hide behind the screen, when the bugs plaster your helmet in 5 minutes.

I went for a mid length ride yesterday, 8degreesC here, I really like the feel of the new screen. It was warmer with less wind on the chest and neck. I also kicked it up over 180km/h a couple times and it seems more stable, and very easy to get under the wind blast by lowering head and elbows. All in all I give it a possitive first impression, it's no quieter though if that's what you are looking for.

That light smoke looks great! I'm drooling over those Remus pipes too. Ooooo. beer.gif
