I'd like to go, but I'm booked solid that weekend. Brother is flying up from FL that weekend. I have a wedding to attend on the 7th and a 30th B-day party to go to on the 8th.
Don't plan around me, though. Just set a date and hopefully some guys/girls will show up. Very nice area out there.
I am not around that weekend either. Just did the Catskills yesterday. Make sure and put Frost Valley Rd on the list (Rt 47 and Rt 19). Great road and beautiful scenery to boot.

Is Rt 19 the one that goes straight down the side of a cliff. 3800 ft change in about 3 miles?

I'm trying to make the ride last awhile, but it's tough without mixing in highway miles. Our highway engineers were not born in Tennessee... sad.gif
Right now I have some decent twisty/fun roads, mixed with some smooth, sweeping county two-laners that have decent views. I can probably include the Ashokan Resevoir, that would be nice to see, but it's two lane (not so twisty) highway to get there. I don't mind it, but I find the turns more entertaining.
As for the date, we could move it up a week, but I think if we go to far out, we'll miss the cool colors.

Route 47 is off of 28 (North side of reservoire) and starts heading South in Olivererea. If you are going to do the reservoire, do 28a (south side) decent road with some nice twisty stuff.

I don't have any mapping software, so I can't make a nice fancy trip map, but I could write it all out for your atlas-referencing enjoyment? Or you could just come up and be surprised by what this area has to offer. I can guarantee multiple opportunities for tire scrubbing, I'm open to running sections more than once.

Exit 21 off of the New York State Thruway, in New York. You could probably take the Taconic also, then shoot across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, the exit and diner are within 5-7 minutes of the bridge. You could also come up route 9 or 9W to Catskill, that's close too.
Let me see if I can find an address for the diner...

I can't make the ride, but if you're looking for ride maps for the Catskills, check out the NESTO 05 & NESTOC 06 routes on my website:
The routes are loops that start/end in Cobleskill, NY, but you can enter them anywhere and easily navigate them. It's a small site, so only a few full size maps are available "on site". Just click on "map request" to generate an e-mail request for a particular route and I'll return a printable PDF file.

"rail-pattern baldness".... that's a good one. Ditto for me, so I just order a rear from tireexpress.com and had a new one within two working days. Only thing is if you order today, they won't get it to you 'til Monday because UPS doesn't deliver on weekends.
If you want, I have a spare rear Avon in the garage. If you buy me one at a later time, so I'll have it for next year, I'll give you this one. I've never tried Avon before, so I'm not sure how they are. I'm waiting for my free front to come to me, so I don't have a new front for you. There is a guy here in town that will mount 'em up for $20.

I'm in the same situation, I need to wear out my sides a little more; I may spring for at least a new rear next week. So far I have 7400 miles from these Avons(AV45/46), I'm very happy with them!

I just ordered new rubber today, it will be here in plenty of time for the ride! I hope you folks have your calendars marked, it's going to be fun! I have added a new road to the route, it was just repaved for the first time in about 15 years, it's nice and twisty and goes right by my parents house!
If anyone is interested, I can write(type) out the route and pm it, or you can still be surprised if you want... wink.gif
I hear that the leaves will be peaking on the mountain next week, so that means they should be about perfect for the weekend of the 7th for most of the route!!
