really, i've been thinking about this for some time now. i would like to get a old vfr and mod it to this. i've seen worse vfr out there than this. biggrin.gif

In the mid-70s, I could have taken that, migged up a hard tail, exhaust, bars,slammed, stretched, chromed, and ruined it into an absolutely almost unrideable BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF CHOPPER ART WORK.....Go chopper, uh...er...I mean skuuter..... blink.gif

It needs to be lower in the back, with a really phat tahrr; front wheel needs to be 23" with a realy skinny tahrr and chromed spokes. Back wheel should be say 15" with a solid machined disk wheel and at least a 240 35 tahrr.

Belt drive.

Ooh ooh - and that tank and seat gotta go. It must have a 'teardrop' tank and maybe something styled on an old metal tractor seat.
No mufflers - just four short zoomie zorsts (with slash-cut ends, natch.)

Drill a few small holes in the engine gaskets and/or cases for some authentic oil leaks too, and you got yerself a winner, Boy!

shunned .......... why? it's a VFR. you mean if i showed up riding this at the next big ride you wouldn't want to ride it. you know you would. it's like an old rat rod from the late 70's. ugly but COOL.

Why, becuase you took a perfectly good restorable VFR and funked it all up to the point of no return.
No you would never catch me dead wanting to ride something that looked like that.
No it isn't like any rat rod that I've seen. Rat rods were fast and minimilistic. Big motor, little car-bike-whatever, lots of balls from rider-driver to just get in the thing, if it isn't needed pitch it attitude.

Now for the application of this. How are you going to get more rake into the steering head, re-machine the neck, machine custom "raked" triple trees? Both of these options are quite expensive and surely take it out of rat rod contention. A cool rat rod would be a VFR with no fairings, small head light, painted rattle can black, (nice) wiring all neetly tucked away, (true rat rod) wiring all exposed, and all go no show. Unfortunately someone already beat you to the punch, streetfighters.

It's not my taste, but I agree with johne. If you get one, you're free do do with it what you will. It's your time, money, etc.
It's getting harder and harder to find bolt-on parts, so we are left with home-made mods. The chopper is just an extreme version of it.
I do like the picture effect, though. It reminds me of those movies a while back where they would superimpose cartoons on real backdrops. I wish I could remember the movie I'm thinking of. offtopic.gif
