Cmon, its time to sign the Flaf in So Cal. So what if the mornings are kind of cool now, what are we, a bunch of sissy cruiser riders? Sondance is flying out to So Cal with the Flaf, and we finally have a chance to sign it, ride, take goofy pictures along with the opportunity to show someone from Florida the beauty of our local canyon roads and have the chance to feel justified for paying ridiculous amounts of money to live out here. fing02.gif
So heres the tentative plan. Sondance and his girlfriend, Elaine, are picking up a rental bike at Long Beach BMW on Sunday at 9 am. Im meeting him there, and were leaving the parking lot about 9:30, assuming the rental process goes smoothly Were planning to head North on the 405, and exit at Sunset to ride down to PCH.
Well stop at the Chevron on the corner of Sunset and PCH, if anyone wants to meet up there. Im guessing wed be there around 11:00 its a little tough to be precise, but thats probably a pretty good estimate.
From Sunset and PCH, were going to head north along the coast until we get to Latigo Canyon. Were taking Latigo Canyon up and over to the Rock Store who knows, maybe Jay Leno will ride out and sign the Flaf!
[image: IPB Image]Well probably reach the Rock Store about 12:30 1:00, and from there, who knows. It'll depend on what Sondance and Elaine want to do, they may want to meander up the coast on their own, leaving everyone with nothing to do but go run through the canyons again... idea3.gif :
Anyone want to meet up at any one of the stops beginning with Long Beach BMW?
If my beloved wasn't still in pieces, you know Id be there. Drag a knee for me and throw a rock at the store.
R. wheel.gif
We should all meet up.
But if anyone is still up for a ride out to Santa Monica for breakfast (I'm thinking maybe Patrick's Roadhouse) how about going on 10-1-06 at 7am from Alhambra? This will actually give people time to think about it and prepare.
Dang it...can't make it. I'm about 90% finished with repairs to my bike, but I still have about two more weeks before my finger heals up enough to be able ride again.
My bike is in the shop after being hit while parked, otherwise I'd be there pissed.gif When is it coming to NorCal lurk.gif
Anyone from SD County comming up?

Jeff - if your finger gets well enough to ride in a big hurry, and getting some assistance would get the other 10% back together, PM or email me.
I'm off work tomorrow, and they'll be two more good hands in the garage (besides mine biggrin.gif ) on Saturday. I'm north of you in Portola Hills instead of south where I used to be, but not too far.
What happened to the bike and your finger - separate events, or one incident???
Laney, I will at the Chevron on the corner of Sunset and PCH waiting at 10:00am till we meet up and gas so count me in.
I'm coming south from San Luis Obispo on Friday, then I will ride to the rock store on Sunday from Camarillo.
What time are you all meeting at the rock store?
Since I'm coming solo with my pillion, would anyone who is attending mind PMing me their cell so I can have a contact?
See ya there!
*EDIT* sunset/PCH actually looks good for us. Its less than 30 miles and only about 20 miles backtracking to the rock store. But riding is the fun part =)
Expect to see me at the chevron... the time seems up in the air though. I'll shoot for 10:30ish... unless the time changes on this thread. I'll check it on satuday again. Would be good to meet a few more members, only met one so far goofy.gif
Chevron on the corner of Sunset and PCH, 10:30 or 11:00? fing02.gif
Although Patricks Roadhouse sounds good for breakfast. What about 8:00 or 8:30? 7:00 seems a bit early relative to lunch. goofy.gif
I'm probably in. wheel.gif
When I hear from Sondance, he'll probably have made contact with the dealership and know how quickly he can get out of the parking lot with rental bike. wheel.gif
Once we know that, we can pin the time down a little better for meeting at the Chevron. fing02.gif
shrek, this is twice now I'm missing out on your presence dressed in your one-of-a-kind Elvis leathers... Put your bike back together and get out and ride! laugh.gif

Looks like I'll shoot for the 10:00 to 10:30 too. Looking forward to meeting some of you.
Hey, who's going to bring the Flaf down to San Diego?
There are a few active members down here who'd like to sign it.
I'd be happy to pick it up, have everyone sign it, then pass it
along to the next City (or find someone traveling).

So far look's like about 10 bikes. Come on westside it's flaf and ride smile.gif
I might be able to make it and bring my friend Asis(VFRD member but doesn't post much)..........10:30 ish at the Chevron.
Just a thought for everyone......Sunday is the most crowded day in the Santa Monica mtns and the Rock Store itself is a zoo, especailly that late in the day. Parking can be a nightmare. Another option for lunch(or a break) is the Canyon Grill which is right around the corner from the RS and has much easier parking and better food to boot. It's on the corner of Kanan and Sierra Creek and has also become a bike hangout just not as long in existence as the RS.
Also, the west end of the SM's tend to be more lightly traveled both by people and LEO's. Great twisties on that end too....Mulholland up from PCH, Decker, Encinal, etc.
I'll be at the Chevron 10:30. Laney if you want to call to update us on time my cell is (626) 437-9396 Thanks Randy

I'm easy - I know Sondance (Rob) wants to visit the Rock Store since he's never been there, but he, Elaine, and I could stop there on the way out after visiting some of the less traveled canyons, lunch and whatever. I think the food most anywhere is better than the Rock Store's, but they're more about experience than food. biggrin.gif
If you slow down so the rest of us can keep up tongue.gif we'll follow you, and you can show us the way from the Chevron station -
shrek - if you put your bike back together and show up, I'll let you borrow my bejeweler... laugh.gif
Rob is still trying to reach the dealership (in between sightseeing, etc.) and get an idea of when we'll leave the parking lot in Long Beach on Sunday. As soon as there's more info, one of us will post a more accurate time for meeting at the Chevron, and I'll give a call to anyone who posted a number.

Totally understand about people wanting to "experience" the RS if they haven't, but you're idea of hitting it later in the afternoon is probably a very good one as the crowds will have died down some by then fing02.gif
Shrek in rhinestones......gotta see that one goofy.gif
Slow down..........I'm still working on shifting into 3rd tongue.gif
I will try my damndest to make it to the Chev station @ Sunset Blvd and the PCH.

My brother from Chicago recently rented a bike from the Long Beach BMW. It went smooth as could be. The people were very friendly, and they got us out of there fast, with a full explanation of all of the bikes features. It is a little strange to find if you haven't been there. They are actually part of the BMW Car Dealership - a small building located at the NW Corner of the dealership.
I've never been on any VFRD rides. I'm pretty quite on the board, but maybe I'll have to beg my wife to let me escape her and the kids for a few hours.
