Well I got a new set of tires and broke them in good. Now we need one more good ride to end the season before the real rain starts. I am shooting to get us all together for hopefully the 21st of OCT. My reason for that date is in hope that Jabez [ex TZ tuner] will be able to make it. So Keith, Lonny, David, Tim D. [Darth], and Tim [The man] I am hoping you guys can all make it. As well as chuckie and all the other members from around us . AND YES YOU TO FLAILER!! There are 100 good rides we can take some from 1 hour to 8 hours. Can we do it? I think we can. Please add your input and let me know. I am pretty sure everyone mentioned by name has my number. And if you need it PM me. George
I'm there, providing I get the starter relay meltdown and accompanied toasted R/R replaced..I dunno if I could keep up wid youse guys on my pedal bike. LOL (just a thought - i could hang a licsence plate on my TZ-do you think anyone would notice? It's a V after all, just sounds different) J

Maybe I'll have a new front tire by then, but this one sure does stick in the dry now.

Here's another one for you. The Rowena Curves used to be my favorite local run, but the turns are too far apart, few transitions. The run from Lyle up the Klickitat is good, but heavily patrolled, and when it starts getting really good (single-lane), the runoffs are horrendous. Check out this run on the west side of the Klickitat, up Canyon Road towards Appleton. Mostly third-gear, nice transitions, great pavement. There are a couple of sneaky dips, but nothing like Carson area (love the run to Oldman Pass, though). Canyon Road from Lyle, WA

And yes i was thinkin breakfast in cascade locks area and then up to 35 throught fallzboaters nice back route throught hood river. then again fallowing davids route to 26 through the nice back wood off 35 to 26, then to 216 east 197south through mopin, east on bake oven road to shaniko, antelope, condon,wasco, biggs and then maybe goldendale and down 142, 14 to dallesport back over to rowena curves. I have done this ride in 6 hours. This is just my favorite route at this point. I am open to any and all changes/ideas. David could you use your kick as google map skills and draw a line as best you can to show the route? I have to run for work. Thanks Guys. George
PS This is a long ride and we can shorten it to meet peoples time needs. There is even an alt route I like that starts in portland and goes up throught the bull of the wood in between hood and jefferson on 224.

Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to get Google Maps to give you a route with multiple stops. MapQuest will do it, but won't let you save a link.
My basic Oregon-side route suggestion would go something like this: Hood River south on Dee Hwy thru Dee and Parkdale. Cooper Spur Rd. South and East to Hwy 35 Hwy 35 to either FS44 to Dufur, 197 South to Tygh Valley -or- Hwy 35 to FS48 thru Wamic to Tygh Valley East from Tygh to White River State Park, then South along the Deschutes R. to Maupin Bakeoven Rd. from Maupin to Shaniko 218 thru Antelope, Clarno, Fossil (this is the goods!) Either backtrack to Shaniko and head north, or north from Fossil thru Condon and Wasco
Could also cross the river at Biggs or The Dalles and add a loop through Lyle, Centerville, Glenwood, Trout Lake, Carson, etc.
If it's cold/damp in the morning, might want to do the loop clockwise to hit the higher elevations last. I've got an electric vest and grips, so it doesn't make much difference to me.

Hey, I can't go that weekend, but when I get my new bike (waiting on the title) I would like to join on a ride or two. My current ride would have a hard time keeping up (BMW F650) but I would have fun trying! Next time?

It's your (newbie) neighbor down the street (R1 convert to VFR). If I can break free from the fam that day, I'd love to tag along too - if I can keep up
ps. Met up with a couple of guys last Sunday as I was passing through Mosier (Ducati & Ninja - sportbike.com handles "niceguy" and "gearhead" I think) and led them through the back route from Mosier to the Dalles. Lots of fun. They were headed to Fossil but I didn't have the time to go all the way.

My mother actually has a Goldwing trike. You'd be suprised how well it handles. It can easily out handle a Goldwing and maybe a few big ST bikes. Plus, it's so much fun to ride. Feels like a giant go-cart. tongue.gif
Wish I could join but I am stuck with a full weekend of soccer sad.gif , Roseburg one day and Portland the next. Hope the weather holds for you all. wheel.gif
