Planning A Ride To Tucson For Thanksgiving

I am planning on riding down to Tucson, AZ for thanksgiving and am researching routes. My brother, sister in law and nephew are driving so they will be my pack mule. The route he is taking cuts through the corner of OR through ID, straight through UT to AZ. Looking at the google map satite hybrid it looks like it will be a boring route so I am in need of other considerations from those who know. If you know of any fun roads along the way that would be appreciated. After reading a couple of post I figure Mt Lemmon will be a fun excursion. I am planning on leaving Seattle the 18th and returning to work on the 29th I figure that I will take my time and have fun on the way down and hopefully the weather gods will be kind (one good thing about global warming) In looking at the roads I think the only passes I have to contend with will be in WA and OR ? I figure if the weather is not good ie snow/ice I can always rent a u-haul and get through the bad stuff, other than that I am so looking forward to a good long cruise!!!

Why not take the Coast all the way to LA then cut over on the 10 to Phoenix? That is what I would do given the weather constraints. If you have spare time while in AZ you should check out the hwy 191. 500 turns in 100 miles.
