Next year, I'd like to attempt to go to some of the VFRd gatherings, such as the TexMac, Gap Rides, Ohio's COTU (from Big List), PNW ride (might be a little far, but just maybe), Canada rides, etc, etc and I'd like to hopefully start making plans over the winter. Anyone have any dates for any of these or maybe get them on the calendar?
I might be bringing this up a little soon, but I really want to have a good planning start point. Summer is best time for me (I'm a teacher and have vacation time), so I'll really be paying attention to things then.

I'd have to re read your post, but IIRC your route took you through West Virgina? There are some serious SE Ohio roads I've been looking to get on and the T-Mac ride is going to be an annual for me. SO, if you wouldn't mind meeting up in SE Ohio or West Virginia I'd be up for it. Of course, I'd have to consult my Michigan folks as I'm bringing the group this year!

I think I claim lead on a super slow scenic group this year. Everytime I go to the gap, and its a lot, I blow through places so fast I miss all the magnificent scenic stuff. I have a blast in the medium and slow group during the fall, but even the slow group wasn't slow enough to really enjoy the scenic stuff, with an occasional pull over and take pics, etc, just more laid back. Don't get me wrong, I love to roll with the best of um, and nothing like hitting the track, but there's just so much to see. The last Sunday we were there this past Fall I took off with a group for a Super Slow Scenic day, everyone seemed to enjoy it that went. Just putting this out as an option. We might have to alter / modify or adjust time leaving or just return later if we take the same routes, but I think it would be fun. Guess I could always merge with the Trace Pace =P
Tiny, that super slow sunday ride was just what was needed before i headed back home. Great especially after that race pace on saturday watching soichiro and jeremy run away like i was sitting still.

The VFR email list has their COTU (Center Of The Universe) rally out of Marietta Ohio the second weekend of May every year so it's not too early. That's just around the corner. I've gone to two of them but missed the last one. I think their on their sixth or seventh year now. I think it's the perfect time for the PMS cure!

I also enjoyed that pace. We still went pretty fast, but had nice breaks. I remember during the "slow" ride a dropped camera coming for us at 130 mph*
*disclaimer: I only went that fast because I was testing a fueling/spark issue that happened at 9500 rpm. I had to see if it was only in one gear or all of them. biggrin.gif
