Hello! Simple request here...Looking for the QTY of and PART #S for and also location of these button head allens on a 6th gen VFR800 02 and up, need to get bodywork back on, I know I have a few missing and also want to stock extras for next season. So tell me the oem option and good alternatives, I try sites like bikebolts.com and they cant give me anything exact, aftermarket options...Is simple yet annoying as paying $4 per bolt is not my thing, please post options and THANKS!!! I'm in the same boat as you. I think the sizing for the longer fairing bolts are M5X20mm, but I'm not too sure on the M5 part since I measured ~4.88mm thread diameter dry.gif . The shoulder bolts are much more annoying. I'm pretty sure they are M6X14mm with a 8.3mm shoulder width by 3.75mm shoulder length. I looked on McMaster Carr and the closest thing they had was an M6 with an 8X6mm shoulder width and length. Ultimately you can just get an M6 and a bunch of M6 washers to supplant the shoulder bolt and not have to get ripped off for the shoulder bolt (~$6.5 each), but I'm not totally sure about the sizing for the other bolts. 4.88mm is close enough to M5 right??. unsure.gif Anyone else have any experience with this?
So I took the plunge and bought some metric button head socket screws from McMaster Carr and they were right on the spot. The long fairing screws were M5X20mm and the shorter ones with the shoulders were M6X14mm. Now, these are not the exact replacement for the OEM screws, but they did just fine with holding the fairings on and didn't stress the mounting points at all. In total the order from McMaster Carr cost about $24 to get an essentially "life-time" supply of fairing mounting screws (50 per bag for the M5s and 25 for the M6s). Also, the M5X20 work for the lower-front cowling in front of the engine block. The part numbers and website are below.
