Hello my friends, just to give everyone a chance to start planning I wanted to post the planned dates for the 4th Annual Memorial TexasMas for May 3rd thru the 6th, 2007.
I'll try to lock up 20 plus rooms at the Microtel in Robbinsville next week, but will look at some other options too.
Be there! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

---------------ADDED by HS (thanks Kevin for doing this ride again)

For some members who have no idea what the TexasMac ride is here are some details, Texasmac was a member here who was from *you guessed it* Texas who met Baileyrock and some others for a ride into the Tennesse/North Carolina Smoky mountains to ride the famous Deals Gap. He passed away in a bizzare accident when his bike went off the road and ended up on top of him. He was the first member at VFRD to pass away - it was a shock to many of us, and to those who where with him they decided to honor him with an annual ride to the same spot of the accident, where there is a cross placed in his name. Baileyrock has taken it upon himself to organize this event for the last four years and each year it gets bigger and better, always with saftey in mind so that what happened to Texasmac doesnt happen to another member.

WHERE: Headquarters is the Robbinsville Microtel

DATE: May 3rd - 6th 2007

Some of the rides: Cherehola Skyway, Deals Gap, Turners Corner, Wolf Pen Gap Warwoman Road, TN 30, and more of some of the best roads in the USA, with loops into North Georgia, Blue Ridge, Tennesse, North Carolina.

Groups, fast pace, moderate, and relaxed groups, a group for everyone, with a leader and a sweeper who know the route!

Last year there were 50 plus riders and it was a blast, no incidents, just fun, and we all gathered in the name of a fellow rider, myself included, this is by far the best rally that I personally have ever attended and I would recommend that you make plans to go this year!

***New Info, adding second Hotel***

The Microtel is filling quickly and I was only able to reserve 4 ns dbl, 5 sm dbl, 3 singles for Sat. night and depending on how many people plan to come we may not have enough space. We have 15 reserved for Fri. and 10 for Thursday night.

I contacted the San-Ran which is 2-3 doors down from the Microtel, they have 10 dbl rooms total and all are available now at $55 a night which is even cheaper that the Microtel at $67 thur, $76 fri/sat..
I think we can take over just about this whole place and it's close enough to the Microtel to keep the group together being less than a 3 min. walk.
Call Randall at 828-479-3256 and reserve a room if you can't get one at the Microtel.
Let me know if you book there too!

Darn sure going to try again this time but this dog-gone job is getting to be work. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/dry.gif)

What better way to celibrate ones birthday than to ride with all my VFRD buddies. Sounds like the perfect plan for me.
#8
The Superhawkforum is also plannng a ride that same weekend. Man is it ever gonna' sound great around those parts with all those Honda V's running about! Too bad it's a wrong time of the year for me workwise. They aren't planning to stay at the microtel so you won't have any competition from them on the rooms.
#9
I'm certainly in. I'll try to get a south/east SC contingent together this year... The 6hrs there and back are awfully boring by ones self.
#10
Had to back out at the last minute last year......won't be making that mistake again.
#11
Will someone please provide details of the ride? Location, etc?
Thanks, Colonel

Large VFR memorial group ride for a member who died in the area on a ride there, TexasMac. The location is Robinsville, NC (Deal's Gap). Four days of great riding at any pace, and camaraderie.

I was hoping to see this come up! Looking to forward to spending time with such a classy bunch of degenerates.

I was there last year at the fall meet with my CBR1100XX, had a blast. I'll most likely attend this one as well but won't know until close to. If i'm not out on assignment I'll be there! I want to go chase Baileyrock again on the Cherahola I'll see if I can keep a little closer this time (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif)
#17
Alright, this is right around when i am supposed to be moving to florida...so of course im going!
#18
Like said above we had several non-vfr's at the fall meet w/ no problems. I'm sure the invite of none VFRD members would prefer to be kept to a minimal, but I'm sure a few here and there, especially those people who have had VFR's at one point, or those who's family or close friends of VFRD members.

Sorry Kevin,

wk1 of a new month is never good work-wise.
and with a $650 airfare alone (add m/c rental, lodging and beer), I'll have to "lay the groundwork" first (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/tongue.gif)

SEB, great stagnight idea man! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)
All I got was a night in Amsterdam, eating a banana in the "Banana Bar"...

Very Glad to see this post! Count me In! I'm planning on bringing a friend or ten with me! LOL Maybe even some on VFRS! We'll see! But I will be there... I'm planning on bringing my GRILL so we can burn some burgers and steaks at the Micro this year! (someone will be bringing a truck) Robstown has such a limited dinning range we did this last time I went and it was great! I'll provide the grill and we'll just walk over to the store and get supplies!

I will be bringing an enclosed trailer with me, so I will be bring a large gas grill, air compressor, tire changer and balancer, spare parts, beer, a fire extinguisher (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/unsure.gif) and just about every tool you could possibly need. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

Sweet! I bet this will be bigger than last year so we may need several grills if this thing doubles up which it very well could.. if not even triple! Can't wait to see the trailer! And you too man! Get that arm healed up!

SEBSPEED, Jan 6 2007, 07:51 PMAre we still under the "VFR's only" rule? I'm not sure if I'll have mine back together by then, but I could make it happen with the F4i...

It's never been a VFR's only thing, so all are welcome. But it is for a member and requires very involved planning and such, so I like to know how many plan to come and what/how many ride groups/leaders/sweepers, rooms, maps, beer, etc.! I wouldn't want 100 other non-members to also have to plan for. It's a VFRD meet that's open to friends. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

The Colonel, Jan 6 2007, 08:02 PMWill someone please provide details of the ride? Location, etc?

Itineraries, maps, GPS routings, etc. will all be provided most likely in April and as there developed. I was mostly just locking in the dates at this time so everyone can plan and ask for the time off! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)

You get yourself over here to the States and I bet these Yanks can cover many of your needs! (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/beer.gif) Kind of a Foreign VFRD Member Exchange.

It is a shame for me that this is scheduled the first weekend of May, I won't be able to make it. This is the ride of the year for me. Maybe I will be able to make it down for the fall meet.
