Am I Looking For A Needle In A Haystack?

Is it really that tough to find a 6th gen that's been totaled and parted out?? (I know ... the shame....)

I'd really like to score a 2Bros, Staintune, or LV super cheap. While I don't want it trashed, I could handle a couple of small dings if I could pick them up for $200.

Not likely to find a 6th gen system (2 pipes, $700+ new) for less than $400 unless it is really messed up.

The only way you'll be able to do it Super-Cheap is to buy two of your favorite brand of aftermarket mufflers on EBAY and adapt them to fit your stock Vtec up-pipes.

I think BaileyRock has performed this feat. Check with him first.

I got my Staintunes for $450 off this forum in mint condition. Just keep your eyes open, stuff will show up. I don't think i've seen a set of pipes in mild condition, they are either trashed or like new. I would just keep your eyes out on here, in due time, you will find something.

I think I'd rather pay more for the convenience of "plug & play" over the hassle of spending a weekend cussing and retrofitting pipes with the hubby. Although... the latter does seem a bit entertaining! goofy.gif Toss in some Margarita's to match his Miller Lite and Lord only knows what would happen! goofy.gif We'd probably wake up the next morning on the garage floor with our 140# rottie licking our faces and a VFR that's still not put back together. Ahh... it seems so entertaining! Ahem... NOT! wink.gif

I went the cheap route... bought a set of stock cans for $100 off this board. The heat shields are at the powder-coaters now.... and I'm sending the rest to KKen for a gut (which he doesn't know about yet) unsure.gif

WILLya (get it.. tee hee hee) send pics when they get back from the powder coater??? That might be an excellent alternative. I do like the looks of the stockers, but do think they could be dressed up a bit. (I was planning on the gut if I kept the stock.)

I'll second the fact that patience, in this case, is a virtue. I just sold a set of Scorpions for $350, in good shape, and turned around and bought a set of 'Tunes for $375. I don't have them yet, but they are supposed to be in very good condition.

I'll also second building your own, but that takes time and patience, not to mention some skills, to do correctly. I have a second set of vtec pipes I bought from Teleskier a while back, and I'm very slowly working on those; I've cut the stock cans off, and made a couple pairs of different length stainless steel perforated cores to start with. I plan to turn my own endcaps on a lathe, and roll up some carbon fiber sleeves, but this is all still in the development stage.

Anyway, point is, if you want a deal, stick around here(A LOT!), and keep your eyes open. And be ready to make a quick decision, the Scorpions sold in 20 minutes! fing02.gif

why it will be hard to find the deal you are looking for. 100 cbr's likely sold for every VFR sold.....much larger aftermarket and used bike market and therefore lower prices. VFR parts cost more to begin (6th gen dual under exhaust) and maintain that higher price during resale.

If you did want to try making your own set, go to the Muzzys website, they are blowing out old stock, I picked up a set of SP1 RC51 titanium oval cans for $149.
