Hi

Chonsey was good enough to start a recent thread telling us of reasonable pricing and as a result a number of us expressed the desire to buy at some point.

It seems we have 5 ppl so far, so lets put together a group buy and see how good a deal we can get! I have already inquired to Sargent and will report back here as to their terms relating to payment/quantities/5th or 6th Gen/ customizing options.

Pls state whether you have a 5th or 6th gen, and your options preference.

Request for forgiveness MR. (12 volt) Terry. It was just to late for me to construct a message that VFRD readers would be able to comprehend. Tell you the truth; I clicked the send message by mistake. Anyway to cut to the chase, sign me up for one (1) Sargent Seat with Black carbon FX inserts, red welts and black trim part # WS-526-11. I live in the Toronto Area but Im thinking of having it shipped to friends of mine who live in the Pittsburgh area. I will be paying them a visit sometime in early spring so it would work out perfectly for me. I also think that it may make it simpler and less expensive for me if the seat was shipped to a destination within the US. Also with me staying in the US for a few days, the Canadian duty may be waived.

Let me know as soon as you have some details my ride is a Red 2002
Good luck

Marty,

Looks like it is time to trade in that 5th Gen and get rid of that awful gear whine so you can get in on this deal goofy.gif

Oh, back on topic I would be in if we could get it shipped for less than $300.00 I have to have a different seat before the Texas Mac meet.

Ok after a quick count - not including the 5 noted below we have:

(All Carbon FX)

6th Gen - Red: 9, Black: 8, Silver: 2
5th Gen - Red: 1, Black: 3, Yellow: 1

So that makes pretty much 30 seats including the previous five,, has Sargent said anything on price and shipping options ?? I'd be interested in getting mine relatively soon ??

Cheers

Hello all,

WOW...look at all this interest!

To my disappointment, I assumed that Sargent would respond to my email submitted a week ago re this group buy. I also tried phoning them yesterday (Friday) afternoon but they take Friday afternoons off.

I will phone them this coming Monday morning and report back here
#34
I'd be interested in a WS-52611 as well, depending on the price

I received an email from them a couple days ago. Sargent is not willing to do group buys due to their lack of personnel to handle them. They suggested finding a dealer that was willing to work with us. They mentioned Sandhill Powersports since they just did a gb for a Honda ST forum.

Sargent is good. sandhill is bad. their people lie. and even when you catch them at it they try to BS their way out of it or just continue to lie.

Why don't you ask New Enough? Who knows? Someone there might need a VFR seat too.

New Enough would be sweet.

Was your experience with Sandhill a one time thing or do they have a reputation for this sorta thing?

Is this potential group buy going to shift to someone who deals in Sargent seats? I.e. is it still active?

Because I would be interested in a WS-526-19 black CarbonFX/black welt/black trim, for a 6th gen.

Pity Sargent didn't want to deal with a group purchase sad.gif

I'm away from my bike for the next 3 months anyway, so speed isn't that much of an issue right now

It was only once for me. I will not go back.

I called to ask about a Sargent seat. I called them because they are only one state away and I was in a hurry. The woman said she "HAD" one with a red welt and one with a yellow welt. I asked her if there was time to get it shipped today. She said it was too late. So I told her that I would think about the color and call her back in a couple of hours. She assured me that she could get it shipped tomorrow.

I called back an hour or so later. Yes. She still "HAD" both seats. So I told her that I wanted the red one. During the conversation, she let it slip that she didn't have it but that both seats were in "HER" warehouse. When I called her on this, she launched in to practiced spiel about how nobody could be expected to keep everything in stock and that "HER" warehouse was really good and they would get the seat to her so that it would be there in the morning and they could ship it to me tomorrow.

When I asked her why she didn't tell me the truth the first time, she had nothing to say.

She already had my CC info so I decided to try it.

You can imagine the rest of the story. A couple days later, I got an e-mail about how their distributor had messed up and the seat would be delayed. I could cancel the order if I wanted to.

I called the owner. I told him the story and told him that this woman had lied to me about having the seat. He wouldn't hear the word lie. All he could understand was that she had made a mistake. She didn't make any mistake. She lied. She knew she lied and she knew I knew it too.

Then I told him that this woman should call Sargent, get a seat sent to me overnight and she should pay for that. He continued with his story that he wasn't going to punish her for a "MISTAKE".

It wasn't a mistake. It seemed like their normal way of doing business. Say you "HAVE" something when you don't have it seems to be their way of doing business.

If she had told me the truth from the beginning, I might have gone ahead. Had the guy admitted that she lied instead of trying to spin it into a mistake, I probably would have forgotten about it by now.

But I refuse to do business with people who lie to me. I refuse to do business with people whose word is no good.

sandhill is in the same category as corbin with their imaginary long distance customer service.

Both of them share the philosophy that once they have your money, the rest is optional on their part and the associated problems are yours.

One of the best uses for the internet and boards like this one is to spread the word about dishonest outfits and try to put them out of business.

BTW, when I got the seat about two weeks of excuses later instead of two days, it would not go on the bike.

That part wasn't their fault.

So I called Sargent and talked to Michael. He got me fixed up in less time than it took for sandhill to get the seat to me.

I am in Wyoming. sandhill is a couple hundred miles away in Nebraska. Sargent is in Florida about 1800 miles away from me.

Sargent is good. sandhill is bad.

If Sargent says that they don't have enough people to do a group buy, they are being honest up front. You might try Paul at New Enough. He seems to be one of the good guys. But just remember, Sargent has already said that they are short handed. Being short handed might make a difference in this project.

Ditto... and unless New Enough has 30+ seats in stock, I would assume they are going to hear the same thing from Sargent. I am out of this one... I need to get my order in to sargent before you guys find a dealer... comp13.gif

I just received a Sargent seat from Sandhill.
Paid $316 shipped.
No problems what so ever, except the fact that the sales person didn't know anything about the seat or the bike.
Anyway, I desided to take a chance and it turned out fine.
Love the seat!
#47
If other than 6th gen VFRs r possible, I would like an all black seat for my '99 VTR, I forget which material but most seem to b going for CarbonFX...if that is possible, I would love to save on a Sargent...hopefully I can afford it. Keep me posted if applicable. Great idea btw. Thanks!
#48
When do you plan on ordering the seats? I may be interested.
#49
I'm interested too if we can find a vendor to accept the group buy at a decent price. I would be in for a WS-526-18 Black CarbonFX with Metallic Silver Welt for a 6th Gen.

12 Volt Terry,

I'll be glad to make some calls or email some places about the buy if you don't have the time. Just let me know. fing02.gif
