THe fella - Adrian - that built this replica is the guy that did the paint work for me on my 99 Yellow that Banshee now owns. I saw this replica in person at his shop south of Woodstock, Ontario. Sad to report though - that it was damaged badly in a trailering incident. a strap that was holding it down broke. The custom glass work got smashed. He plans to repair and rebuild it though.

I know, whenever I'm there, before I leave I pour myself a cup of coffee en just sit and admire that beautifull NR. When the NR was first released I was passing a small crowd that stood around this beautifull red bike that was just taken out of it's crate, and I stopped to take a closer look. At that time I was not into motorcycles so had no clue how special and rare an NR is (I found out later smile.gif ) but the owner was rambling about all these little details that made his new bike so special. When it was put on the paddock stand he let everyone get a feel of the riding position. Can't remember if it was anything like my RC36 though laugh.gif
I think the NR still looks better than most of the current sportbikes. And this replica looks superb, way better than the Italian kit that was shown here (on this forum) some time ago fing02.gif
Dude - you can get some pics when you take your rear cowl to get fixed up!!! Make sure you have an extra hour to spare - he'll go over the bike in great detail with you.
I didn't have my camera there when I was at his shop. sad.gif

You know I want that body kit. I can't get Adrian to let me buy, borrow, or steal it. Hell, I can't even find him anymore. If anyone knows him personally, PM me ASAP. RM Racing had one, but they will not reply. I cannot find a source to copy or buy. I would buy a sacrificial 94-97 to make one today, IF I could find the body to make, mold, or buy.
Anyone have a REAL GOOD friend with an NR that would let me borrow if for a month or 2 to make molds of the body, especially the tail. fing02.gif

That reminds me. I have got to get my butt in gear and get at that cowl....... as soon as I bleed my brakes, adjust my valves, replace my wax unit and front sprocket then help someone whith some sliders,fork oil, plugs, etc then i will get to the cowl goofy.gif

Thanks for posting that - I hadn't seen that before. Very interesting, between that and a Tamiya 1/12 model (and the ton of pics from every angle that I've had NR owners send to me) you'd have a fair chance of replicating the NR panels... go on Larry, wrap your 4th Gen in plastic, make a polystyrene buck and carve away, slap some plaster on it and get the smooth finish... then take a mould, wax it and lay your new NR bodywork...
OK not quite THAT simple, but that's what Adrian would have done...
One, I may be crazy, but not stupid. I'll try modding mechanical stuff, swapping parts and making it fit. BUT, if someone has ALREADY gone through the effort of receating this, why should I recreate it, again, IF I can get the stuff and copy it.
Two, I do not have the unlimited shop time it would take to do this. The weekend mechanical stuff is no big deal, its just wrenching.
Three, I do not have unlimited amounts of dollars to buy the OEM body, even IF someone found a set in a dusty parts warehouse somewhere.
So, sure, if I get Adrian to let me borrow and copy his, I'm all for it. If I have to recreate it, why should I copy anyone, just my own ideas. And that's not totally out of the picture yet. Maybe a Vtech front end (4 headlights, good idea when using HID), a NR type tail (really an RVF tail opened up to put cans against frame and covered over). The ram air would have to come some other way, probaly side cover tubes. Leaning towards removing the turn signals, using LED mirrors or GSXR (yes, I have a set) and using the turn signals openings.
And I don't even have a 4th gen bike or 1000R engine to use, YET.
So, maybe an NR replica, or something completely different, but familiar.

Which is what I'm doing. I've modded my upper left/right fairings to remove the indicator winglets (using CBR1100XX mirrors) and blanked off the NACA duct, am making a custom headlight which will probably use twin projector beams for low beam and twin conventional lenses for high beam. Rear bodywork has the scalloped scoops (fart vents) removed and filled with mesh, and the tail light and indicators have been ditched for a scratchbuilt LED array.
It takes a lot of work, as you say... good luck with it.

The answer is in, and of course it's a no... he has no current intention of using it to build a replica, in fact since aquiring the frame he has also added an NR dash and an NR rear wheel to the collection. So perhaps his long term goal is to build an NR proper... 491.gif
Actually he hinted that the NR rear wheel may appear on his VFR roadbike once he has the bike up to scratch.
