Want To Borrow Spanner Tool

So I started replacing my chain last weekend...then realized I'm missing the tool to adjust my chain (bike was missing the tool kit when I bought it). If anybody nearby could let me borrow their spanner tool for the weekend, I'd appreciate it.

Time to start checking around for a tool kit...


I live in Escondido and work in Carmel Mtn...so the closer the better.

I never bother with the tool, you just tug gently (yeah yeah (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/comp13.gif) ) at the rim, tap the tire if too tight to slacken the chain.

Not a quick solution, but there is an ebay seller that sells the spaner wrench for the chain adjustment. Hold on and I'll post a link.

Pricier than I though, and didn't realize that they were over seas.

I tugged and pushed on the hub (wheel was off the bike)..and nothing wanted to move. I didn't push too hard since I was worried I would push the bike off the center stand (...and yes, I loosened the pinch bolt first (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/smile.gif) )

The timing may be a problem, but in the long run it's not that expensive an item to purchase. The spanner is in the area of $12 (from Ron Ayers) and the extension handle (if you need it) is $11 and change.

I simply tap on the notches of the adjusting thingo, gently, with a very large screwdriver, drift pin or other blunt-ended rod. Gently, gently, gently, so as not to bugger up the notches. A tap or two is all it usually takes.

I have one you can borrow man. I had to do the same thing (borrow someones) then I bought one from Ron Ayers. I'll be back at home on Sunday, let me know when you can come by and pick it up. If you need it in a hurry you can pick it up tonight, my wife gets home at around 6 and I can call her and tell her that you will be there to borrow it.
