I looked throught the paint section and got some good tips on how I'm going to approach my fairing paint job. I need to paint the left side fairing and the left side upper cowl. I have a couple of questions though and maybe some of you have done this before. Any info would be appreciated. First off, I bought the colorite aerosol cans about 2.5 years ago and they have been sitting in my garage since then. Do you think that they go bad? I mean will they break down after sitting that long? Should I call colortie and ask them? Secondly, how many cans will it take to cover the fairing and the cowl? I only have two, but thought that it should be enough. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

If they're not that expensive, I'd get a couple new cans. Better safe than sorry... But on the other hand, you could use them, and if it comes out wrong, you could always just sand and try again.
shake real well and as long as they still have pressure they should be okay 2 cans should be more than enough remember light coats are better than thick coats have fun

Remember, with paint everything is preparation. Sand, prime, sand, prime, wipe with tack rag, undercoat, maybe 2 with appropriate waiting, color coat or 2, clear coat or 2 or 3, and wait. And make sure its warm enough when you start.
If I can do it with the white pearl triple coat, anyone can do it.
Update on the road rash repair. I removed all the plastic from the front and sides from the bike. Question: is there an easier way to remove the front cowling besides taking out those small screws that you need a long handles screw driver for? Am I missing something? There was no diagram in the owner's manual on how to remove it which I thought was strange. Also, is that little black diode looking thingy on the bottom of the nose of the cowling the air temp sensor? I lost the screw that was holding it in place and I'm wondering if I can use a replacement screw and if anyone knows what size to get. Oh, and one other thing. When my bike went over the first time the fairing bracket on the left side got bent and consequently does not line up with the fairing bolt hole so I have not been using that bolt. I pulled it off and would like to get a new bracket. Should I go through the dealer or does a place like Ron Ayers carry those brakcets? One more bit of info: When the bike went over the radiator bracket also bent and caused the fan to rub on the rad. I was able to straighten it somewhat, but it still rubbed a little and occasionally a little bit of gravel would get between it and stop it from moving. This time as I was removing the plastics I took off the nut that holds the fan to the radiator and put a washer in between to give it more space. It now moves freely and will not rub. So if anybody has had a hard hit on the left side and has a fan that is stuck this will solve that problem. OK, that's it. Any info is appreciated and I gotta say the bike isn't as sexy when she's nekked!
